Same thing the NBA does. Probably spread it out so they can have two media releases instead of one.

MLB does the same thing.
Plus, they let the fans vote on the starters, then they pick the deserving rest of the all-stars. Fans are generally pretty inept at voting for the best 10 players, so often the more deserving all-stars are reserves.

What I do know is Reese wasn’t good enough to be selected in by several avenues and had to be voted in by coaches lol

However, adding in the media and player vote she finished 7th for frontcourt players. The top 6 are the starters. She missed it by one spot.
