Only a small minority of her fans would have taken offense to her only playing a limited role on the team. She is a historic player who should be wearing the Olympic jersey.
Sureeeeeeeeeee

she were black do you think they’d be holding her fan base against her?
Hell no. It would be applauded across the country and probably given some name like GoonSquad or something like that and everyone would be talking about how brave they are.

Name recognition of a Britany Griner who,has played in one game all year and scored 10pts is not clout,

You can't leave the only male off the team. Huge advantage.

But the players themselves I truly don’t think race really plays a part as the majority reason for the hate
You’re delusional if you think some of the black players behind closed doors don’t use “white” when referring to her.

So the committee sat in a room and said:
“She deserves to make the team. But we just can’t have all of her fans being happy about it, so we have to leave her off”
Because they can't praise one without tearing down others. Look at all the CC threads for reference. And it's not basketball talk.
It's hateful, race baiting and derogatory slurs that are being stated. Not basketball talk.

The committee literally admitted the reaction of her fans while she sat the bench would have been unneeded controversy
This didn’t happen lol

Not only she is dead last over the past 17 seasons but by a very wide margin at 5.6 per game. She had 8 for her last game so it’s not like she's trending up. You can't win with that
She would be playing limited minutes while gaining experience.
She also outperforms many selected in other key statistics.
So you’re saying in her limited time that she would play with the team, that turnovers would cause the team to lose?
To what extent do her dogshit teammates exacerbate her turnovers?

Multiple professional basketball people have all publicly stated that race is playing a part in all of this. This isn’t something that the MSB started lol

All of the other guards: I never made a point to watch them play.
Clark: I’ve made a point to watch her play.
Interesting. I've made a point to watch the Pelicans this year. I haven't watched a single Pacers game all year. Does this mean Zion and Brandon Ingram should be in Team USA over Haliburton?

If she was black she wouldn't have that type of fanbase...point is moot.

I think if she wasn’t such a statistical outlier in turnovers then she’d have a better case. No matter the sport, turnovers are always harped on as the biggest thing that impacts whether a team loses or wins.
For what it’s worth, if I was in charge I wouldn’t have left her off the roster. But I don’t think it’s some travesty that she was left off

We've been through this already. She isn't outperforming anyone on the team to offset her massive turnovers right now.

Sorry no one ENJOYS being around CC because they maybe subjected to hateful, inflammatory, derogatory comments by her fanbase if they don't bow down and kiss CC feet.. Hell Even her own teammates and coach can get the hateful smoke as we have seen already.

The they/thems in the WNBA would rather be able to rule over a league only watched by lesbian women than have new fans come to the game, but fans of a new superstar.
If the WNBA old guard wasn’t so filled with hate in their hearts, they would realize that with new eyes on their game they could show their skills and create higher wages and more sponsorship deals for themselves.
PGA players weren’t thrilled with all of the attention give to Tiger Woods when he first arrived, but they didn’t block him out of Ryder Cup teams and they sure did enjoy the increase in tournament purses.

But she certainly is. The stats are there.
She’s top 3 in several categories that all make a good guard.

Women generally hate other women that are more popular than they are. I really think it’s that simple. Race is only relevant in that it’s possible that part of Clark’s appeal is that she’s relatable to white people. I think a far bigger thing is that she’s closer to being conventionally attractive than most WNBA players. It’s not like white Americans have any issue cheering for black pro athletes in general.

She should be on the team. She has the stats this season to be on the team.
