College Football Playoff System

The NCAA should go to a six team, NFL style playoff system. Use the BCS ranking system to determine the top six teams. Have #1 and #2 sit out the Christmas week round and have #3 play #6 and #4 play #5. The New Years week round have #1 play the lower seeded team and #2 play the higher seeded team. One week after that have the two final winners play for the National Championship. This system will still allow for all the other bowl games to exist and only use up the four BCS bowl games and the BCS National Championship game.

Sounds ok, but the traveling expensives would be high with no advance notice.

won't solve much. would utah have made the 6-team cutoff? the top 5 would be pretty clear

also you'd have 2, possibly 3 big12 teams and 2 SEC teams in the mix. that's a shitload of money for those conferences from the BCS. the big east and ACC would be left out of the money entirely, and the big10 may join them

but aren't you eliminating the bowl games that the conferences would have been getting by hosting these playoff games in those bowls? Then you're also going to have some teams getting multiple bowl checks, with 2 teams getting 4 checks. Then you've got the issue of a conference getting possibly 3-4 teams in so they could potentially get all 4 of the semifinal teams giving their conference 4 BCS checks while others are left out. No way the BCS heads ever go for something like that
