9-6 will always be one hell of a battle royale.
And if it had been two Big Ten teams all the SEC fans would be crowing about what a boring game it was.
And guess what? It WAS boring.

A GREAT GREAT GAME. I still remember it to this day.

The problem with the NCAA basketball tournament is that they have to take 31 conference champs. Even if you got rid of all the "wild cards", you'd still have 31 conference AQs.
Yes, but at least there's a cap. And with a 330 team league, a tournament that only allows in 10% of the teams is not inherently a bad idea. But with at-large teams, the NCAA has already expanded the field to 68, and has tried to get it to 128 before the public backlash. Don't think they won't try again. The first at large teams got the field to 32, it quickly expanded to 48, and within a half decade, the field expanded to 64. The field expanded quickly and rapidly.
The only way for playoffs to expand is via wild cards, because there is no end to expansion. (Or you just create more divisions, which isn't as big of a risk in college football). It would be far more difficult to create a new conference, against the weight of history, with major football programs, than it is for the NFL to just carve out another division.
Put it like this... who will leave the SEC to form the New Southern Conference?

Like I said, I'm not going to convince you otherwise and I'm happy to agree to disagree.
You can have the last word if you like.

Rocket, I can't produce the evidence. That makes me a liar. Therefore, there is no hypocrisy or irony. I'm busted. I was just being intellectually lazy and talking out of my arse. There is no way for me to know if the posters in this thread are the EXACT same ones that have complained over the years about the AP voters in 2003. For what it's worth, LSU won the BCS title game that year. LSU beat the #1 ranked OU Sooners in New Orleans and their offense ran into a buzzsaw that night. So, please forgive me for being a douchebag. I guess I was just lumping LSU fans together. But I should have known you were going to see through my douchebagness and call me out on it. I'll try to think next time before I post. But I probably won't. Thanks for keeping me in check AGAIN. Sincerely FlameOn/Tangy

Well to be honest In my mind there was No split. LSU won the title that counts. IF the tables were turned I would give USC the nod for winning the title that counts.
Thank you

I have NEVER said USC didn't deserve to play in the Title game that year. I HAVE said MANY times that if they did I still think LSU beats them.
I am not talking about playing in the game. I was talking about sc being a co- nc, split title. In your eyes there is no split because the bcs rules were in place and thats fine. You've already answered above, albeit with less fervor and caps than your more candid posts.
Now, screw off Rocket!
You are ignorant

Rocket, one of the reasons you are one of TIgerdroppings.com premier posters and such a valuable asset is that you smell my bullshite from a mile away. I can't provide the evidence since you wisely challenged my assertion. So what I have unsuccessfully attempted to do is try to get PJ to admit he argued about the AP in the past. I'm trying to get him to corroborate my assertion but it's not working. I'm unsuccessful again. Just like always. I can't win. And PJ decided to be generous and go easy on me. I wish you would do the same but to be honest, I don't really deserve it. My obsession with LSU fans is unhealthy. I come here to flame and troll and I get my arse handed to me on a daily basis. I was wrong about something. I thought you had an obligation to be fair in your criticism of me and USC and Kiffin,Inc. but you don't have any obligation. It's not your fault I was so wrong. I can't wait for you to post another babe thread. And your threads about classic country are mesmerizing. Why can't I quit sucking? All I want to do is flame and post news threads on the O-T. I should have been banned a long time ago. SIncerely, FlameOn/Tangy

Look, we all know you are flaming. The evidence lies in your posting history noted below (which includes about 1/50th of your flames) . My history, however, does not support flaming on my part.

But it basically comes down to this, which no advocate of wild cards can get around, the second best team in the conference is not the best team in the country. They have literally zero claim at the national title because another team won their conference. If the goal is to find the best team, the second best team in a conference is, at best, the second best team in the country. Which means it is perfectly acceptable to exclude them from a system designed to claim the best team.
Lord Jesus, AMEN. PREACH ON BROTHER. It's rather ignorant if you ask me. " WE ARE THE #1 TEAM IN COUNTRY, but not
In our conference."
That should have been the first prerequisite of being a BCSCG participant. If you aren't the #1 team in your conference, how the hell can you claim to be the best team in the country? Makes zero sense to me.
Posted on 8/17/12 at 8:44 pm to Rickdaddy4188
But that's why the SEC is so awesome.
The 2nd best team is the best in the country.

Well it had already happened twice before Bama, so the precedence was there.
Edit: My mistake, I read that as playing for a national title. Talking about 01 Nebraska and 03 OU still getting a shot though.

In fairness, the vote for #1 indicates the national champion. This happens all the time in the NFL. A team may not be the best in conference or division and be world champs/Super Bowl Champs

Rocket, I'm getting so pissed that you've called me out on my bullshite. I am just going to bring up your posts where you hilariously question my sexuality because of my reverence for Baby Kiffin. You were right to do that and looking over your comments, they made me laugh.I'm going to pretend that I have some authority around here and tell you to go elsewhere but you're so smart, that I don't think it will go over well. By the way, Rocket, the reason the SEC is superior is because there are more programs than any other conference in the SEC that are capable of winning a national title. I'm just a glutton for punishment. Can you imagine how big of a douchebag I'd be if you weren't around to keep me in check? OMG Sincerely, FlameON/Tangy

CFb doesn't have a playoff. When it does, then fine.

I can't fault Bama at all, it's the system. Ever since 2004, I've always put the sec title above a BCS title( I know it sounds dumb) because your conference champion is never questioned. Every single year , after the BCSCG , there is questions about whether or jot it the right teams got in. This doesn't happen for a conference title. You aren't voted Into your conference championship. You win your way in. Last year with Bama in the title game, it went against everything the CFB experts have always told.
1.THAT EVERY GAME IS MEANINGFUL.It was actually better to have lost on Nov.5th because the winner of that game got the prize of traveling to Georgia and playing UGA while the loser sat at home.
2. THAT YOUR RESUME GETS YOU INTO THE BCSCG. This was the first year that , who you lost too outweighed who you beat. It's literally never happened. If it did,Michigan would've gotten in over Florida in 06 because Florida lost to Auburn and Mich lost to OSU by 3 points.
3. THE BOWL SEASON IS SET-UP FOR COFERENCES TO FACE EACH OTHER. this is the first time in 50 years the sec has played the sec in a bowl.
4. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE A BLUE BLOOD PROGRAM. Everyone knows that had it been Oklahoma or Texas in Oklahoma State's position , no way are they sitting at home.
All this said, LSU had a chance to cement themselves as one of the greatest college football teams of all time and came up short.
Congrats to Bama, they were the better team on Jan.9th.

Yeah, most of the CF world accepts this fact but I'd be willing to bet that most of the CF world also thinks that y'all got hosed by the BCS in that you shouldn't have had to play them twice.
