This happens all the time in the NFL. A team may not be the best in conference or division and be world champs/Super Bowl Champs

A team can win the Super Bowl without winning its division, but every single Super Bowl Champ has won its conference.

Oh yeah. SO you can win your conference and SB without winning a division.

correct. I've long said the NFL playoffs have too many teams, but winning a 4 team division is not the same as a college team winning a 10-12 team conference.

My favorite playoff system of all time was MLB from 69-93. Win your division or stay home. 162 games, 4 teams make the playoffs. Now that's a regular season that matters.

Yeah, some of those division races coming down to the wire were great.

I hate Wildcards in any sport...it just feels like a cop-out to provide extra interest for TV and ratings.

and they saved the best for last. Braves-Giants 93 was EPIC. Far more exciting than any 5 game WC Series or this new 1 game scenario. Last year's final day pales to the 93 race. I remember how LaSorda was to beat the Giants the last game keep them out of the playoffs. The Braves closed with some insane record like 60-17 or something stupid like that. It was great. Only problem was they didn't play in Sept because of the unbalanced schedule. But keeping up with it every day was great. I played rotisserie back then and had Bonds and Beck, so I was rooting for the Giants and those guys were killing it every day.

What was epic was what happened to the Braves last September.

I don't even remember or care, its not about petty sports rivalries or whatever your point is. Too many teams making the playoffs dilutes the regular season.
