I didn't root for them because they were good, they actually blew nuts my first year i started following them. My roomates were Duke fans and i hated duke so I started cheering for UNC just to piss them off and it stuck.

I have no connection to LSU either.
I got a UNC mini basketball at the 1984 final four and I was just there with a friend. I didn't even know who Carolina was then. I was only 9. Stuck ever since just because I liked their colors and mascott.

It won't help. Either Cowherd or SVP made a great point on their show yesterday, that people one hate consistant winners. Rarely do they hate on average teams or schools.

I don't hate UNC, I don't care about them. I hate Kentucky because they were my team's rival. I reserve my real hatred for teams that affect mine teams/cities: UK basketball, Alabama and Auburn, The Falcons and Titans, Stl Cards, the Spurs/Jazz.
I will root against teams like the Cowboys, NE, ND, UNC, Dook because their legions of band wagon fans are annoying.
