One of the first things that athletes go through when they attend USC is a course on public speaking and speaking to the media.

This is so they don't sound like Fairley.

TP, when he speaks, is understandable and for the most part, gramatically correct (at least compared to many college football players [i.e. Nick Fairley]). And he usually even says "Tressel-like" quotes about the opposition. His problem is every now and then, he'll just say something COMPLETELY stupid. But other than limiting his access to the media (starting QB at Ohio St... that's impossible) and/or telling him to watch what he says (which I'm sure Tress does, but even so, TP will think a stupid thought and let it slip, sometimes), it's kind of hard to "coach" him, other than his delivery (which like I said, is pretty good).

FWIW, I was the one who brought up TP failing the "course" originally. My main point, though, wasn't to defend TP, but just to say the course "does it's job" at OSU. You can't really affect what your players say too much (you can try, but sometimes they'll say something stupid, of course), but you can at least affect how they say it. That was my point.
