In an ad in which he appeared, Berkman referred to transgender people as “troubled men.” He fearmongered, suggesting that transgender people would violate women’s privacy and lead to violence. However, there have been no documented cases of transgender people attacking people in public restrooms, contrary to what some pundits would have you believe.

Berkman spoke to Craig the next month and said,  “To me, tolerance is the virtue that’s killing this country. We’re tolerant of everything.”

So, Berkman’s track record on LGBTQ issues isn’t exactly sterling

quote:

The Cardinals issued a statement of their own, defending their choice to invite Berkman:

The Cardinals have hosted a Christian Day at the ballpark for nearly three decades. Lance Berkman participated in Christian Day when he was a Cardinals player, and we welcome him back this year to discuss his faith.

quote:

The Cardinals are a business, and in going through with inviting Berkman, they are risking alienating the section of their fan base that also intersects with LGBTQ. They have every right to continue to invite Berkman, but fans also have every right to speak with their wallets by not showing up at the ballpark and buying merchandise. Is it worth it? I guess we’ll find out.

Writers at Hardballtalk are just as bad as those on ESPN putting their own opinions in place of Sports Stories. The Cardinals have nights for every demographic of people and can invite whoever they want. No need to back down because one group doesn't like a speaker.

How will the Cardinals ever survive as an organization if they lose all of their transgender fans?

Good for Berkman. A transgendered person is just a troubled person.

I mean let's be honest, outside of the Mariners how many transgender fans are there really?

Good for the Cardinals telling the pitchfork mob to go frick themselves. With just how far people are willing to go to be outraged these days, I think you'll see more companies doing this. Whether you are right or left, I think sane people are seeing the pitch fork frenzied mobs for what they are, narcassistic idiots looking for trouble.

That would mean about 10 people.

Trannies make up .3% of the population. It's absolutely ridiculous how much media attention and political power this deranged group of freaks commands.

Curious to see if this will receive more national attention and the Cards cave because of that. Next month is their LGBT night as well.
