Yep. It would be interesting seeing the percentages on big FA who bust and or end up far underperforming after signing as opposed to being productive and providing good value commensurate with said contract. It seems lately its just a roll of the dice.

I think Cardinal fans might actually stake claims on moral victories more than Arkansas fans, and that's saying something.

I want JD Martinez in LF after next year, unless he wants some insane deal as a free agent.
Wouldn't mind a few years of Cameron Maybin in CF either, best option out there this class.

You're happy with him? Im not bagging on the Cubs but he isnt even remotely worth what he is getting paid.
I am frustrated, sure. But I'm not done with him.

Im not sure you understand what a moral victory is to be quite honest.
No one is happy about losing baseball. Team needs to retool and makes some changes. Those things cant happen when mid market teams have extensive payroll tied up into overpriced free agents that drastically underperform.Seems like pretty down to earth common sense talk from a fanbase that understands the line the club has to walk financially. We are not making a run this season. Why cant we have discussions about the future?

quote:You trying to justify it being better that an automatic gold glover chose another team over you, your rival to boot, is very easily a moral victory claim. It is complete fact that St. Louis would be a better team with Heyward and Price on the roster. Convincing yourself otherwise is delusion.

I get that. Another reality is that Cards fans have to look at deals like these through the lens of a mid/small market club. Heyward just isnt worth what he is getting paid. You dont pay light hitting RF's with world class defense $25ish million a year.

Not getting Heyward is a better outcome for STL than Pujols going to LAA. No need to justify something that worked out beyond excellent for the Birds.

Ask any GM in the game right now who they would rather have:
A young cost controlled Piscotty or Jason Heyward.
Im sorry you cant take off your blinders and knee-jerk to your usual nonsense.

Right.
Would be a death sentence to many franchises to pay a guy $200 million that is worth about 15 cents at the plate.

I dont get all the vitriol from some of these Cubs fans.
Wierd.
