If the Cubs sweep the Cardinals, they will have buried Saint Louis by 16 games. If they only manage to split, the lead will remain 12. If the Cardinals sweep, the lead will still be 8. The Cubs are 30 games over .500.

Thursday's Pregame:

No word yet on Pedro Strop's left knee. He was having and MRI today, but it did not look good last night. Luckily the Cubs have depth at both the major league and minor league levels in case Strop is to miss a lot of time.

Friday's Pregame:

Matt Holliday has a fractured thumb after getting hit on the hand by a Mike Montgomery fastball. He's out indefinitely.

Bryant and Rizzo should keep their heads on a swivel for retaliation. It was completely unintentional, but we all know Mike Matheny and The Cardinal Way.

Jason Heyward mercifully gets a break along with Dexter Fowler.

Saturday's Pregame

14 games.

Look at Cogs in that lineup! Tommy the Star still on a milk carton, apparently.

It's crazy how much this guy has struggled. But with that said, he still worries me.

Hopefully can get a split, never know how Weaver will do in his debut.

Marlins get the damn White Sox this weekend.

So what's the word with Arrieta this offseason?

Is he 100% hitting the open market? What is he looking for in terms of length and money?

Cubs going to match any offer or decent chance he is gone?

Haven't really followed it much.

He is on a one year deal and will probably sign another one before hitting the market next offseason

Someone explain to me the La Stella situation? I understand teams get into a numbers crunch but how is a guy that's hitting .295 getting sent down???

The team got in a numbers crunch and he was the only position player on the bench with options. I'm not sure what is difficult to understand about it from that point of view.
