was actually hitting well before the injury.
True he was finally starting to come around. Hope he can keep it up. He's still a liability in the field but if he brings the same bat he did in the playoffs last year, won't be able to keep him out of the lineup.

As long as he has these hamstring injuries he's going to play the field and run the bases cautiously and not at full speed. Not with confidence anyway.
But he was actually working on his defense in LF and making some progress before the injury too. It's good to have him back and it might be wishful thinking but I hope he can gain confidence in his legs and turn a corner in the field. The bat plays and I was impressed with his AB and pitch recognition last night.

I can remember someone, maybe JD talking about how of all the high profile Cub prospects coming up in the last 2 years Soler was one the organization felt would be the most selective and patient of the group coming in as far as pitch recognition and the like and were a bit surprised at what a free swinger he has been in the show to this point. I'm sure there was a track record in the minors and prior that must have led them to think this.
If he can get there, man the sky is the limit. Cause he can hit the big boys with the big fastballs, we saw that even against the Mets in the playoffs last year and all of their nasty pitchers.

Didn't have great control, still dominated that lineup.

I agree, I always wanted to buy one of the pinstripe powder blues on a trip to Wrigley, but never pulled the trigger.
Brings back memories of Rick Rueschel, Bruce Sutter and Bobby Mercer. Back before WGN came around down here and I only got to watch my Cubbies on an occasional game of the week, Monday Night Baseball or when they played the Astros.

Yesterday was the battle of the best uni's of all time.
Love those old A's 70's throwbacks and the Cubs pinstripe blue

Hendricks throwing today. Second best ERA in the majors.

His home era and record is phenomenal, hope he can continue his dominance and pitch like that away from home. We'll need it come October I think he'll be our 3rd starter in the playoffs
