I’ll root for the kid but Tiger said Charlie hasn’t beaten him over 18 holes yet. I mean beating Tiger Woods is kind of an unfair benchmark but they’ve surely played tons of rounds. I would think there are several 15 year olds that would give this version of Tiger a run for his money consistently.

Ultimately, the obsession with projecting a great athlete’s success on their kids is weird. Lebron has reminded us of this recently.

He will get tour exemptions just because of his daddy

Same as Bronny getting drafted

You don’t think the best 15 year olds would take 1 or 2 rounds out of 10 from him?

"Obsession" is a weird choice of words.

I'm actually surprised it's his first hole in one considering how much he probably plays.

What are the roster caps? Most schools when I was playing were around 10-12 and 4 total scholarships for men’s.

Most top schools will be restricted to 9 full scholarship players next year. The big schools are only recruiting top, top juniors while trimming rosters and working the portal.

He’s a long ways from having to worry about that. A lot changes in a few years at that time. He’s still got 3 season of HS golf left (I assume it’s a spring sport in FL

Historically top players sign after their sophomore year. Yes, he can improve but has a lot of work to do.

lol all you want but poster is right. He’s not even top 500 in his class right now. Lots of talent out there that don’t get exosure without a dad named Tiger.

Was my first thought. Hell I had one by that age and I wasn’t much of a golf talent.

It’s really random though. I knew a guy who was a great golfer who played in college and consistently throughout adulthood and he didn’t have one until his 50s.

That’s double what it’s always been. That will make it much easier to get a scholarship than before.

Commit maybe, but not sign

Hole in one does not equal talent

Bro. You don’t get it. That’s a cap on rosters. Teams have historically had no limits with partial scholarships. Schools that fully fund will have 9 cap. It means less opportunity at least for a while as they trim.

No, not at all. It’s completely random. I was just surprised he hadn’t had one roll his way yet.

Ok. You know what I’m saying. The top programs have their classes figured out by junior years and that was before the cap

Nothing I have said is remotely confrontational. Charlie woods right now is not close to an elite junior golfer or elite 15 year old.

Ok. I’ll give you that. But you make it sound like he won’t even make the tour. Which is idiotic. If he keeps his head on straight and really wants to put the work in, he should have no problem making it.

The current average team size is 10, so not much difference. Regardless, from what I saw today, Charlie without the name would easily be able to get a spot at a Southeastern right now. Not saying he could play there tomorrow but he would be someone with a committable offer now.

I also disagree on having your class filled up 2 years in advance. You’ll have some people commit then, but you won’t have it anywhere close to set.

You don’t think they’ve been working the rankings? His misses are rough.

He hasn’t been, he has no reason to.

Trevor Gutchesky just won the Junior Am ranked like 3,500. His dad is a former/kind of current Tour pro and Trevor is an absolute stud going to Florida, but he didn’t play in a bunch of events that get WAGR points because his dad could get him into college golf without it.

Elite (or very good) juniors can game the system to accrue a bunch of points. There aren’t enough resources in recruiting so it’s the only way to get your name out there if you don’t have connections in the game. I don’t think Charlie will have a problem with that.
