people sweat West so much, but would he be an all star with a mediocre PG?

Not me, but I don't think you're going to get someone better for the money. I like Tyrus, but I'm not sold on him.

not that im agreeing with going after tyrus at all, but tyrus plays so much bigger than west its not even funny

I agree with you on that i just dont think Tyrus has the bulk to consistently guard PFs.

there are alot of good PFs that could probably be had for less than West.

Yeah, Bogut's contract is awful. You do have a point about overpaying for bigs. I mean at least this isn't Erick Dampier we're talking about.

EXACTLY. Mark Cuban is probably kicking himself when he sees this trade going down. (Heck, on another note, I don't know why the Mavs wouldn't execute this deal themselves. But I guess they are "hoping" they can land a big fish next summer.)

But in the meantime, the Hornets finish 2nd in the division and top 5 in the West now after this. Two months ago, I would have told you that the Hornets would be lucky to make the playoffs.

Bogut makes 6M and Bynum makes 3 in 09. Not really the best examples, just saying.

To defend ColtsTigers examples, I doubt you can find a better comparison in the league at C for Emeka Okafor's contract (originally 72 million over 6) than Andrew Bogut (75.5 over 6). Bynum signed a 3 year, 42 million dollar deal with a team option for an additional year at 14 million.

Ahh okay. I was wondering why he had no input on this trade.

West actually has one of the better contracts in the NBA.

I would be shocked if he's moved.

I completely agree with his point that you need to pay for C's.

I think Cuban flew to LA to offer Starbury a 4 year deal. The webcam convinced him that he still has what it takes.

Any chance we deal Peja now or are we basically stuck with him now?

only way peja could get dealt is with every expiring we have left, and it would have to be to a contender who could use a sharpshooting guy like him

ie it wont happen

He is a bad contract. Certainly not a Peja contract, but 5 years, 62 million is a lot of money to pay for a non-All Star. Its not terrible, much better than several others the Hornets have (Peja, Posey, Peterson), but it is bad.

Crazy. Okafor is a fairly compensated center in the prime of his career. He is in no way, shape, or form a "bad contract".

I like TT, but West is 20 and 9 guy. TT is never gonna be a 20 point scorer.

Probably, but keep in mind that Thomas next season will be the same age as West was as a rookie.

Thomas doesn't have to score the points west did. We wont give up as many with Okafor and TT down there. Plus PF is the most deep of any position in the NBA. Finding a scorer at 4 isnt tough. Bring in TT and then go get Udonis Haslem. Wouldn't take much and he's a scorer and much more active around the basket than Dwest was/is.
