Back to Chad Morris. Not much difference between 6-6 and 7-5. Both are considered pretty mediocre especially with a G5 schedule.

That was pretty good for SMU at the time though. June Jones had basically given up on recruiting before he quit for good. I think there were even reports posted here that SMU coaches were never seen around the metroplex for a couple of years.

Bringing SMU from a 1-win season to bowl eligibility in 3 years made Morris look like he knew what he was doing. I remember his name being floated for the A&M job before they got Jimbo, so it was hard to blame Arkansas for going after him.

Arkansas fired former AD Jeff Long back in November 2017. Rumor was that he wasn't going to fire Bert and so they canned him instead.

A couple weeks later after the Missouri game, Bert was led into a room and was told his employment was terminated.

So no AD was in place to lead the search. So the big whigs got a bunch of former athletes from various sports to former a committee. A woman interim was in place but she was just a face and didn't make any of the decisions.

During this time rumors of Gus Malzahn to Arkansas was heating up. Gus was flirting with Arkansas but in reality hated them and used Auburn to get more money from them.

It worked and Arkansas wasted so much time in the search with Malzahn when Arkansas should have moved on much earlier.

Arkansas could have found any coach more proven than Chad who had a losing record at SMU.

But the committee hired the new AD Hunter Yuracheck after Chad.

So the new AD wasn't give a chance to pick his own hire.

It was a complete and utter disaster but incompetent, egotistical and narcissist fools destroyed the program.

I remember when he was at Arkansas, he had the players slim down.

Center Ricky Stromberg was at 265 pounds as a starter.

I’m not saying he’s a great coach or anything, but Belima had that roster packed with tight ends and no wrs. He wasn’t allowed enough time in my opinion.

If Arkansas had a AD in place then Chad wouldn't have been hired.

Given enough time?

He had plenty of chances to win games and show improvement.

But when you lose to North Texas, Colorado State and Western Kentucky then he was lucky that he was given a second year.

He was always broken, he just got exposed in the SEC.

Arkansas took a chance on a coach that had a losing record at SMU after three seasons which isn't enough time to really know if he could cut it in the SEC.

When Arkansas lost to Colorado State after giving up a 27-9 lead, I told family members that he wasn't going to make it.

When the season ended, I was ready for him to go but no, the Colorado State and North Texas games wasn't enough torture.

Lets also not forget that the chick galvanting around thinking she was the AD piaaing off interviewees for the job like Mike Norvell, who was basically an Arkansas native and really wanted the job, as well as Mike Leach, who also had wanted the Arkansas job for 15 yrs.

All that bullshite also affected the next hire greatly after they fired Chad. Norvell wouldn't even talk to the new AD and Leach basicay just gave a courtesy interview, but was not truly I treated anymore after basically openly begging for the job behind the scenes for years.

Thats why the final candidates for the job in 2019/20 were a 58 yr old O line coach who hadnt been a head coach in 30 yrs and Deion fricking Sanders, who was such a wildcard unknown collegiate coach at the time, he he had to be a mercenary at one of the poorest and shorties cities in North America for 2 yrs first.

The damage Jeff Long anf Chad did to the program at Arkansas is almost unfathomable given their previous history.

I also had no clue about the coaches breaking down his kids HS coaches tape for game plans. That shite alone should have gotten him fired on the spot.

People are lazy and don't do a thorough evaluation on these coaches.

If you get fired then you should be punished.

Chad gets fired at Arkansas and gets hired as OC at Auburn. Arkansas had terrible offenses with Chad.

But they still hired him and no surprise sucked at Auburn.

After Chad was fired. The reputation of Arkansas football was so bad that no proven coach wanted to go to Fayetteville.

That wasn't the case at all in 2012 but Bert took Arkansas down a couple of notches and Chad took Arkansas to the grave.

Yes they had interviews but rumors started going around that many wanted higher buyouts and were concerned about job security.

Sam Pittman said he campaigned for the job from the beginning. He was more sincere than the rest and at his age, he had nothing to lose.

As much as Long and Chad should be given most of the blame. Petrino should be blamed as well.

He had it all but threw it away when he could have had respected people more and he wouldn't have been fired.

Looks like quite the stupid beady-eyed frick. No clue how an AD can sit across from this room temperature IQ gaze and think “this is my guy”

One of our message boards had/has the greatest nickname for Morris --- "Deliverance McBanjoface."

I still laugh whenever I think of that
