The #1 team in SP+ doesn't always win. So there will be no validation even if Ohio State does win.
Oh, I agree with this completely as well. I will also say (eta, if Ohio State loses), it no more means the analysis was "wrong" than it means that the results that go against it constitute a "fluke."

Holy shite

Les Miles refused to adapt his offense to today’s game

Fake news. In his final full season at LSU, the total offense was higher than 41 of 65 P5 schools.
The offense was good. Stats and win-loss records prove it. frick your feelings.

Top 25 scoring offense with Mettenberger.
The offense wasn’t bad, and Miles is a terrific coach. Dumb LSU fans wanted Miles fired for 1/9/12 and don’t want to admit it. He couldn’t protect us from the most painful loss in program history, so they tried desperately for five years to look for reasons to fire him, and they seized on the opportunity when they saw two losses in September.
Don’t believe anti-Miles LSU fans when they deny this.

Looking at all the data, I think this is the week Ohio State jumps LSU.
4 of 6 BCS computers, Massey as a whole, RPI, FPI, SP+, etc. all favor Ohio State.
LSU had the RPI, Colley Matrix, Jelly Juke, etc. last week, and that's all gone now.
Look for OSU #1 in the CFP on Tuesday.

My prediction as well.
If it’s chalk from here on out, LSU v Clemson in Glendale and tOSU v TBD in Atlanta.

This thread has all the answers they seek.
Yet none have returned after the rankings were released.

This is a fantastic observation and a big fight in stathead circles. Essentially, these value based statistical formulas assume that there is one correct way to play, and it rates teams as good by how close they hue to these prior performances.
Yards per play isn't even loosely resembling something formulating "one correct way to play". There will never ever ever ever not be an almost one to one correlation between yards per play and points on the scoreboard.
