I played for Sid as a freshman at Catholic about 13-14 Years Ago. This guy is the reason CHS had so much sucess in the 90's. He is a players coach and hires good people around him to take care of alot of the X's and O's. HE focuses on getting Talent and motivating kids to overacheive.

ree sag, sounds like good plan and if it betters the kids then more power to you. Maybe I'm missing the pont vis a vis the football program but all sounds kosher to me

Also doesn't sound like a revolutionary idea either.

Texas has had Independent School Districts for years.

Not really but I assume you are being sarcastic because Baker hasn't been the same school since they went independent

The real challenge for Sid will be keeping the born and raised Central familes happy enough about winning that they don't notice their kids on the bench.

he had a much easier time doing this at a private school, because he handpicked about 30 of his kids a year and the others accepted their spots on the depth chart .. it will be an interesting challenge at a community school for him ... zachary's having success, but it is different there because people are legitimately moving in there ... a lot of the "faces" i saw in central helmets on the tube don't live there ..

That is one problem, the other is they did their districting very bad. Brownsfield is apart of Baker but them kids go to Scotlandville. Once Baker went independent though they lost most of their athletes and since then Scotlandville has benefitted from that as has Glen Oaks and Zachary.

since the redemptorist people paid tuition and they didnt seem to mind, I doubt the Central people will care as long as their son gets a couple of "patches" for his letter jacket

Not that but the real challenge is keeping them at Central instead of going to Redemptorist or Parkview like years past. But I must say, he did a good job of recruiting Cutno from Glen Oaks

this central football "turnaround" reminds me of the year that parkview basketball went from like 1-28 to winning the state championship ...

Maybe Sid should take over Central's BB program as well. Still remember the season with the Wolves when he coached them to both the football and basketball championships.

He definitely should get the credit for the football state title but Brian Hargroder, the coach at Live Oak now should get the credit for the basketball title because he was the one that really coached them kids. Sid just got them there.

The way I recall that incredible Redemptorist sports season is that the basketball team wasn't very good until Sid and his football/basketball recruits showed up.
