Your article states that OU is cutting 15 athletic department jobs (5%). The athletic department profited more than $2.5mm in 2024. Who knows how much the athletic department has increased enrollment at the university.
Nothing in your link supports the idea that "professional athletes organizations" are "literally costing educational institutions money and jobs."
Big time athletic departments (like OU) objectively increase a schools operating budget and bring in dozens of millions of dollars in donations every year.

Most Athletic Departments have become bloated in the last 20 years. Way too many assistant and associate AD’s. Cutting overhead is not the worst thing.

Ticket costs about to surge
I’m out when that happens with cost of everything else these days

Correct. Just like the universities themselves. More administrators than students it feels like.

The chances that there isn't fat to trim all through the NCAA and University Admin ranks is slim to none.

Bureaucracy breeds more bureaucracy.
