Agreed. I love to watch him play. I predicted him as MVP contender last year after 5 weeks(Obviously, no one believed me).

The things that he does that rub people the wrong way is what he does between plays. Disrespecting opponents, drawing attentions to himself, celebrating like a immature child. It's all find and dandy if you're winning. But when things go downhill, people(even teammates and fans) will turn on you.

You'd think he'd see RG3's career arc and take heed? When does he stop trying to measure his dick by running like a halfback? He is THE guy! He is it. Has all the tools, and can make all the throws. If he plays smart there is no answer. He can read and break down a defense and keep it honest. Then when in trouble, he can take off. Just frickING SLIDE!

He runs the way he does and then bitches when he doesn't get calls for excessive hits while in the pocket. He's in what, year 5? He still has not realized everybody on the other side of the ball can get to the edge too?

He's not calling plays, is he?

Second, if he came out today and did a presser or the media finds out and reports that he told his coach he's done running like a halfback when plays are called for him, the MSB would implode about how he's not a team player willing to do whatever it took to win. So as usual, no matter what he does or doesn't do, we'll find a way to blame him for it.

Nobody is telling him to take on linebackers like that. I know they run a read option at times, if the LB crashes down on you? Hand it off or pitch or SLIDE.

If Rivera is calling for the franchise to run like that in week 3? Fire him.

If its a for a first down in the last drive of a playoff game, so be it.

Is his coach telling him he should be sliding instead? I think you're actually wrong, I'm guessing his coaches support him doing it the way he's doing it.

Has Rivera ever said he should be sliding and not trying to get extra yards?

Yep. A linebacker for the Saints killed him last year while he was doing the same thing

You may be right. Though I cannot imagine them cutting him lose like a halfback. Specific run plays? Sure. But they have to be drawing them up where defenses are loaded on the other side and Cam is isolated on one guy.

Rivera will say nothing. I remember Vick and McNabb and all the talking heads, when they struggled, saying "you gotta let Mike be Mike." It is lose lose for Rivera to say much publicly. Anything will be spun as Rivera and coaches trying to make him a "pocket passer". code for "white QB".

Yep, it was Mauti.

As much as I dislike Newton I wouldn't wish brain damage on anyone. He has to be smarter than that. He runs in and he doesn't get popped.

Especially when his offense is showboating. Man some people are hateful.

I'm not following this. First you're talking about him needing to slide when running, then it's the hits he takes while in the pocket as though they're the same thing. The Denver hits and Falcons hits were two completely different things. He was a runner yesterday and the hit was completely legal. The Denver ones were very suspect.

Second, and I may have missed it, but I don't recall him bitching about the hits. His teammates, coaches and dad has, but I thought he had been rather silent.

The hits he took in the Denver game weren't a result of showboating or not sliding...they were dangerous. Him getting popped yesterday was a result of both. Just seems like 2 completely different scenarios.

I think the way he runs without sliding and challenging defenders gives him two issues. One, it exposes him to needless hits. Second, it makes the refs more lax (I believe) in calls while in the pocket. They don't know how to call games with him. they know defenders have to bring the hammer. Cam, Jameis (sp?), and Big Ben never get calls. Because they are huge and dive too much rather than slide.

I admit. I was working yesterday and did not see the hits. Him challenging guys and showboating is going to get VERY old to opponents. They take pride in their jobs too, and will start fricking spearing him. Fines be damned.

His bitching was mainly during the Denver game. And DURING the game. Just throwing his arms up in exasperation. Things like that. But justified. He took an arse whipping in that game. You are right that yesterday and Denver game are apples and oranges.

Agreed, but they are running backs at that point and it's on them. There was a Matt Ryan run yesterday where he dove head first, and I said "they missed a chance to level his arse"...and Ryan is a pro at feet first slides.

Yep. Debo was looking for a spot, and Cam gave it to him. Like I said yesterday, don't know what Turner was so passed about...Cam could have continued outside or dove back inside and scored barely touched. Instead he chose to challenge, and got rocked. His doing. The Broncos hits were borderline extreme though.

Like you with this past game, I admittedly didn't see that game, just the post-game presser where he said he wouldn't fault refs trying to do their job. I did see where Rivera and Cecil were pissed though.

Examples? I didn't see him crying for a flag after the Falcons hit...he was too busy counting to potato. If he wanted a flag for the Denver hits, which he may have, he deserved it.

What plays are you talking about? I'd have to see them to judge.

This doesn't help me 14. I'm on board with the showboating being annoying. I'm not following you on the whining part. If anything to me, it's his teammates and coaches and dad. Like I said though, if you've got examples, I may have missed it.
