You gotta question Cal., once again.
going back to the Memphis/Kansas final. You're up by 3 with several seconds left, K has the ball, why the hell not foul them? Instead the K player drills the open 3 with a second or two left to tie it. Of course M loses in OT....
Cal dropped the ball in that game
After the game he said the plan was to foul, but basically that the players didn't execute.

Most people don't understand the dribble drive offense so they think he just "rolls the ball out there."

even so, it's not like they don't have a defensive system.
and they didn't run the true "dribble drive" that they ran with rose and evans

Let's not get carried away and start calling him a good coach.

I have never liked Calipari but the criticisms in this thread have been ridiculous. Exhibit A:
Did this person watch the game at all? UK used most of the shot clock the entire game. They scored 55 points. This wasn't exactly the '06 Suns.
Nice post. UCONN took away the plan, as good teams do, and UK had to go to option B. They got a good luck and it just missed. Otherwise, we'd all be posting in the "Is Jim Calhoun so fricking old he fell asleep and forgot to tell his team to play defense" thread right now.
Like I said, I don't like Calipari at all. But he had the perfect gameplan to beat Ohio St, the best team in the nation all year. He had a good gameplan against North Carolina. And he had a good gameplan last night. His team didn't shoot well and they were awful at the line.

I want to know how many plays tonight used up more than 15 seconds of shot clock.

If anyone took the time to listen to the post game, they would have heard Deandre say that the play was for Knight, but UCONN switched the screen so well that Brandon had to give it up. He said he should have driven the ball, but didn't know if he would get as good a look and let it fly. He thought it was good when it left his hand but he missed

And we would also be making the "What a brilliant shot by Liggins." thread. Knight also in the post game admitted that UCONN made a great switch and he couldn't do anything with it other than give the ball up.

UConn really frustrated UK in general down the stretch with their switching D.
UK was forcing up all sorts of bad shots at the end of the game. I think they went 3 minutes without scoring down the stretch. Can't do that and beat a team like UConn.

bad luck or is something wrong with him?
Same story, different game. They lost by 1 and missed 8 or 9 FTs in the process. The play at the end of the game was horrible too. It looked like UConn caused it to get screwed up, but they were going for a 3 at the buzzer regardless, which is just asinine in that situation.

This might be the god damn dumbest shite ever posted. The play was for Knight to come off the screen and drive. You know just like the fricking 1000 times they ran it this year. But, since you were in the huddle, you obviously know better than the player. If you want to hate on Cal and UK fine, but don't be so fricking stupid when you do it.

If he was going to drive then why did he stop 40 feet from the basket and just kinda hang out for a few seconds? Typical stupid arse isolation basketball on a final possession. Even if he was going to try to drive to the basket, which it didn't appear he was going to unless he planned on taking a pretty indirect route to get there, there is almost no time left for a tip in or to foul them and extend the game if he misses. It was a stupid play. He had 17 seconds to work with and about 13 of it was used up by dribbling around outside the 3 point arc.
I don't hate UK basketball like a lot of SEC fans do, but douchebags like you test me. Go frick yourself.

Wrong again a-hole. UK inbounded with 16.7 and Liggins shot around the 6 or 7 second mark. Fail again a-hole. Douchbags (armchair coaches) like you drive me insane. You have all the god damn answers and would never lose a game. frick you, you know nothing of what the play was from the huddle, you must not have seen UK play that much this year, and you suck at life.

Cal's biggest weakness is lack of the role playing experience that his 1 and done recruiting generate. The teams they face in the final four and championship game are very talented and have lots of experience usually....if Cal ever gets an experienced team with lots of bodies and a couple of stars he will win it all. Cal is a solid coach and the best recruiter in the country.

He isn't paying the right players.
