SFP conveniently ignores that aspect of it, as well as the fact that the local prosecutor and regular judge had to recuse themselves.
ignores what?
the "internet vigilantes" came in after the prosecution had already started, and the only thing they did was intimidate state's witnesses into violating their agreements to testify to avoid the internet prosecution knightsec was pushing

you mean they did what they were supposed to do?
they weren't recused b/c they did something wrong. they were recused b/c there was a conflict in each presiding over the trial. the recusals are proof that the prosecution and judiciary was NOT tainting the process

so, what your saying, is:
the video i seen, from the kids camera, where he mentions, about the stuff they gave her and how it was looking like it killed her. Because she was passed out, limp, and looked like a lifeless carcass.
Your saying the hackers photoshopped her body in there and added the voice? The same voice heard throughout the whole tape?? These hackers are pretty fricking good.

Let's go through the actual order of events
NYT Article on 12/16/12
so on 12/16/12, the arrests (which was made in August) and court date were public knowledge
oh, and the state already had done its duty and gotten testimony from three kids (who later testified at the trial)
Knightsec releases their video on 12/23/12
in their own words:
so what exactly did the group expose, posting about a case that was already in the new york fricking times?
what did Knightsec do? Target the state' s witnesses who were the main cogs in prosecuting the defendants
so where was this cover up?
and as for the recusal, the prosecutor and judge recused themselves. they were NOT removed due to some impropriety
the case was transferred to the Ohio sex crimes prosecution wing of their AG (a good thing, especially due to the small size of this locality) and they got a visiting judge with no ties to the team or people involved. standard operating procedure
NYT Article on 12/16/12
quote:
On Aug. 22, the possible crime made local news when the police came forward with details: two standout Steubenville football players — Mays, 16, from Bloomingdale, Ohio, and Ma’lik Richmond, 16, from Steubenville — were arrested and later charged with raping a 16-year-old girl and kidnapping her by taking her to several parties while she was too drunk to resist.
quote:
After more than two months in jail, they are under house arrest on rape charges, awaiting a trial that has been set for Feb. 13.

oh, and the state already had done its duty and gotten testimony from three kids (who later testified at the trial)
quote:
Three Steubenville High School athletes became witnesses for the prosecution and testified against Mays and Richmond, their friends, at a probable cause hearing in October.
Knightsec releases their video on 12/23/12
in their own words:
quote:
On December 23, 2012, we released a video detailing the story of a young rape victim in Steubenville Ohio who was attacked by the Big Red High School football team and raped and kidnapped carried party to party unconcious and intoxicated. Only 2 members were charged with the actual crimes, when everyone present was guilty.
so what exactly did the group expose, posting about a case that was already in the new york fricking times?
what did Knightsec do? Target the state' s witnesses who were the main cogs in prosecuting the defendants
quote:
The hackers posted the names of those witnesses, as well as the names of other witnesses they said saw the rape that night in August. They referred to those witnesses as “targets.”
so where was this cover up?
and as for the recusal, the prosecutor and judge recused themselves. they were NOT removed due to some impropriety
quote:
Steubenville is nothing if not close-knit: both the local prosecutor and the Juvenile Court judge recused themselves because of personal ties to the case.
the case was transferred to the Ohio sex crimes prosecution wing of their AG (a good thing, especially due to the small size of this locality) and they got a visiting judge with no ties to the team or people involved. standard operating procedure

i thought he said she just looked dead. the kid was being a douchebag, but i don't remember him saying they drugged her
her own friends testified that she drank a metric frick ton of alcohol. drugs weren't really necessary
all of this has nothing to do with the actual case, anyway. it's just inflammatory bullshite that people believe. just like how people keep talking about some coverup, when there is NO evidence that the prosecution/investigators did anything wrong
this was trial by anonymous hacker who was intentionally slanting the truth, and it was effective. just look at all the people posting about a cover up without any proof

Hey anybody know if the Assistant Coach who provided alcohol at one of the parties was dismissed? I Hope that the guy is reprimanded at least...

That's my point. That community worshipped those kids and the football team, and the authorities DID in fact try to cover it up until anon got involved.

dude go look at the timeline
the NYT article is from a week prior to anon getting involved, and it references arrests and prosecutions months prior
how did anon stop a coverup when there was a trial date already set?

I keep seeing this about a "cover up". What exactly did they do to cover it up?
I'm honestly asking. I only know the broad strokes of what happened here

i've been asking this since december, bro
go look at my timeline posted on this page, with links documenting the timeline
the "internet vigilantes" believed that a coverup occurred b/c certain kids exchanged testimony for immunity, and the "internet vigilantes" thought those kids should be prosecuted. they thought the lack of prosecution = cover up
