Baseball GM's are all about potential. Teheran is still regarded as one of the top prospects in the game. If we include a couple of other solid prospects I think it would be sufficient.

I think the D-Backs just want to unload him and they know Texas won't give them what they want.

Texas backed out because Arizona asked for either Andrus or Profar.

I would have to imagine that Atlanta would send over a piece like Freeman as Marle said. Arizona has more depth pitching wise with guys like Bradley and Skaggs as well as a few nice arms right now in the rotation.

One of the biggest mysteries of the past two years in the Atlanta Braves system has been the disappearance of the prospect star of Julio Teheran. Once considered among the top young pitchers in the minor leagues, he may struggle to find his way into the top-100 this year.

One theory was that the "book" was out on Teheran, that the deception he had enjoyed while twirling through the minors was solved by Major League hitters during his cup of coffee in Atlanta in late 2011. Another theory looked at his drop in velocity, from the mid-90s to low-90s, and concluded that something might be wrong with his arm, or that he was following in the footsteps of Tommy Hanson.

I agree about the uncertainty but I still think Arizona is desperate to move him at this point and would be willing to take a gamble.

They aren't, they also are talking with Cleveland (or maybe it was Tampa) about Kubel. Only 1 of them is gonna be moved and it whichever team gives them what they want gets whoever they want first. His contract his reasonable enough and he is only 25

Its Baltimore.

Braves offer is Teheran, Gettis, Ahmed, and another pitching prospect or two.

Diamondbacks GM Kevin Towers has said he won't trade Upton unless he's able to match the offer he received from the Mariners. (Before Upton declined to waive his no-trade clause to go to Seattle.) The Braves are not one of the four teams on Upton's no-trade list, and it is believed he'd love to join his brother in Atlanta, anyway.

Well, obviously Atlanta would want to offer a pitching heavy package, but they have a shite ton of arms. At the same time, Arizona has their own young first baseman in Paul Goldschmidt. Just does not seem like a good fit to make a trade.

I think Arizona would be better off trading Kubel coming off a really nice year.

Last week, our R.J. White put together some hypothetical trade packages for Justin Upton based on prospect rankings. His hypothetical deal from the Braves would send pitching prospects Julio Teheran and J.R. Graham, shortstop prospect Nick Ahmed and reliever Jordan Walden to Arizona. Although the names are unlikely to match up exactly if the trade comes to fruition, the general shape of the deal -- one or two solid pitching prospects, one or two relievers, and a middle infield prospect -- makes sense given the Diamondbacks' stated needs and their nixed trade with the Mariners.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Braves' website reported that the Braves made an offer for Justin Upton on Wednesday. The Journal-Constitution reported that Atlanta offered a package of prospects which could include pitchers Julio Teheran or Randall Delgado; minor league shortstop Nick Ahmed; and minor league outfielder Evan Gattis.

So the "sensitive" in the above tweet could refer to whether or not the D-Backs think they're being bamboozled. Remember how many times the Braves and Padres went back and forth when discussing Jake Peavy? The Padres GM then, Kevin Towers, is the D-Backs GM now, so that gives you some idea of the gulf that could exist between what the Braves are offering and what the D-Backs might want.

wut? He is still the #1 prospect in the Braves system and scouts still love him. I would be shocked if he wasn't in the top 50. No way he doesn't make top 100 lists.

DBacks would be dumb to have a trade centered around tehan. Yeah he has top notch potential but he hasn't performed well enough to be a centerpiece of a Upton type trade.

If we have to give up pitching prospects I hope it is only one of the two young studs we have
