A slew of high-profile athletes and celebrities are listed on a class-action lawsuit filed against the cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, Naomi Osaka, Trevor Lawrence, Larry David, Shohei Ohtani and Shaquille O'Neal are a few of the names included on the filing that alleges FTX and the former CEO violated Florida law by misleading customers. The lawsuit claims these individuals, among others, “either controlled, promoted, assisted in, and actively participated” in the alleged scheme where they “aggressively marketed” FTX.

I'm sure if those names knew exactly what the 10 members in the Bahamas were doing, they would not market or affiliate with FTX. I don't see how they can be responsible unless they are proved to have "true" knowledge of the scam.

not sure how i feel about this. I don't think any of these athletes is super knowledgeable about the complexities and inner workings of the high level crypto stuff. I don't think they were the ones doing anything nefarious or had any ill intention of the whole collapse of FTX

if I'm an athlete/celebrity, i'm gonna only sign contracts that protect me from any possible legal action with regards to endorsements going bad or any scandals involved

I’m sure they didn’t have any knowledge or bad intent. But I’m also sure they didn’t mind collecting some money for rubber-stamping the use of their name. So they deserve whatever bad press (which won’t be much) and any financial damages (which won’t be any) they get.
