But, if he isn't offered a huge contract from anyone, Texas will definitely resign him, so I do not think another team would get him for a discount.
Listening to Nolan I don't see them resigning Josh period. Nolan is sick of his drama queen act as is most of the Rangers' fanbase and bandwagon supporters.

I also think it's going to be a 4 team bidding war between Boston, Texas, NYY, and LAA for Grienke, one I really hope Texas wins.
Agreed there will be a bidding war for Grienke. But Texas won't get him. We only got Darvish due to the bizarre posting system rules--in a pure free agent market we don't get him either.
And I finally figured out why the Rangers folded the last two weeks of the system. The Curse of Ronald Wayne Harris.

Yankees won't go after Greinke, they don't think he could handle NY and scrutiny. They've had their share of fragile psyche pitchers who flamed out.

Mlbtraderumors believes that Greinke will be the top target for the Rangers this offseason. The last two years the Rangers have responded by signing a big FA after missing out on their own players and signing Greinke would give the Rangers room to maybe trade a pitcher for an outfielder.

Braves are going to have like 30 mil to spend this off-season so they mya well try to make a splash and sign a big name.

I don't deny that the Rangers will make an offer for Greinke. They would be crazy not to try. I just don't see it happening.

Who do they trade? Yu isn't going anywhere. Holland is a disappointment so he's not moving. Harrison is their most consistent pitcher. Lewis is coming off arm surgery and would be a huge trade risk for the receiving team. Perez and Grimm are at least one year away. And nobody is going to take Feldman, Scheppers, or Feliz. This leaves the only trade options being Nathan and Ogando; Nathan probably has some sort of no-trade clause and do you want to trade Ogando and run the risk that if Nathan falters, you have NO closer?
And if the Rangers can't fill the OF with what they have, why not go after B.J. Upton? Besides, I thought the plan was to move Ian to the OF so Profar could come up next year.
(Personally if the Rangers are going to trade to fill a position they really need a catcher.)

wont beat the cards
Cards wont beat Nationals.
I wish the Cards would win though, so the Giants can have home field.

they better not do another Soriano type deal
There's absolutely no way that Theo will sign Hamilton.

I will again offer a one month ban hammer on myself if he re-signs with the Rangers...because it is not going to happen.
The front office has made comments that, when read into, is pretty clear in my opinion. And they have cover from the fans because most were pissed at his lack of effort and being a general pussy throughout the summer and in the last month.

I agree, I'm about 95% certain he is gone. All it takes is 1 out of 31 teams to offer him a large contract and he's history. There is an extremely small chance that the market isn't as strong for Hamilton after that shite show he displayed the last couple of months, in which case I believe he would sign with the Rangers, but it just isn't going to happen.

Holland is still fairly highly thought of by organizations around the league because of what he brings to the table. Boston has shown interest in Holland before, so a package centered around Holland might be able to bring Ellsbury. Perez is going to be in the starting rotation from day 1 next year and he is still very highly thought of by scouts.
Feldman and Oswalt are done as starters but there is a small chance they could be brought back as bullpen help.

Feldman has one year left on his contract IIRC so he will be back, and in long relief he is probably OK. Oswalt won't be back as he and Wash are on bad terms.

Why trade Holland for Ellsbury if you can get Upton as a free agent and keep Holland as well?

Based on what he didn't show at the end of last year that's not good news.
Posted on 10/12/12 at 4:50 pm to Quidam65
Holland for Ellsbury would be a back-up plan. There is no guarantee that the Rangers sign Upton.
He was only 21 years old. The kid has a lot of talent. More than likely he was just tired at the end of the year.

True but unless the Rangers plan to go with Gentry and/or Martin then we have to fill the CF hole.

That may be true but I'm of the opinion that the Rangers have no real shot of winning in 2013 regardless of who is in the lineup, and that all the major prospects would do well with some AAA seasoning (if Profar blows it out of the water then deal Elvis and move him up, same with Olt and Mitch).
