agree
preseason polls are exposed EVERY year as being retarded. No polls until week 4, or if you insist on preseason polls, make them extremely fluid in the first four weeks.

I like it....having Boise #1 to start the year would help to expose pre-season polls as the crap they are anyway.
How are they crap? Explain to me, except the schedule (which would include '04 Auburn), how they are crap... Where in the frick do you guys get this stuff? Because they aren't in the mighty Pac-10? Well we know they can beat the best of the best there... So what next?

Their SOS is balls, and they don't deserve shite for running the table other than the BCS bid they get. Their resume is never impressive, and the BCS doesn't care if other teams don't want to play them, they just look at the resumes.
And really, even with the soft WAC schedule, they still found time to schedule an FCS opponent.

They've beat the best in the Pac-10 and Big-12, so maybe we should tell our teams to try and schedule Boise State since we know they're a cupcake and would expose the Pac-10 and Big-12 as being frauds.. Man up the phones boys, get it done

The point is that they play one decent team all year and call that a championship worthy schedule if they win. If they lose, they go to some 3rd tier bowl game in the middle of December. No other team can earn as much by beating one legit opponent as Boise.

They schedule who they can get to accept... They took Oregon their first game, beat them, and still no respect.. Auburn '04 schedule sucked balls, but it wasn't because of our conference, it's because we scheduled easy OCG.. That was because of our own doing... Boise State on the other hand goes out of their way to try and schedule harder games...

and despite the one game schedule, with the rest of the schedule sucking some major wind; they still scheduled an FCS team. You just don't do that shite and expect anyone to take you seriously at the end of the year.

wtf
Oklahoma edged us out because they had Bowling Green on the schedule and we had the Citadel. If those teams were switched, we were in.
We had originally scheduled Bowling Green, but they bailed before the season.

So what you're telling me is they get lucky once every year and the rest of the teams on their schedule never get lucky? Awesome, they must have a voodoo curse on their games or something.. If they suck so fricking bad, why is everybody bitching? There is no way in hell they get lucky twice in a year, considering everybody gets a rest before a bowl game..

what the crap are you even arguing? Their resume warrants nothing. I'm sorry their schedule blows and despite their hardest efforts it continues to blow, but why should I shed a tear when you get shunned because your SOS is near the bottom of the barrel and you get edged out by teams that actually ran the gauntlet of good teams every week and made it out alive?

Are we really going to argue about Bowling Green and the Citadel? I was stationed in Charleston in the Navy and saw what the Citadel had to offer.. We would have came out better playing Jacksonville State...

seeing how that's what got us edged out, yes. If the tables were switched and Oklahoma was stuck with the Citadel, guess who would have been in over them for the national championship game?

The point is until the "better" schools can beat them and man up and play them, they should have a shot.. Especially after they return everybody... Put yourself in their shoes, everybody on the '04 Auburn team returns in '05 would you expect some respect?

I never said anything about luck and I never said they suck. I actually think they are a pretty good team. I just don't think it is fair that they can play one other good team every year and try to make a claim for a national championship when the other 11 teams on their schedule are Southeast Montana Tech, California School for the Deaf and Blind, etc.
ETA: and the one time they played an SEC school they got the everliving shite beaten out of them in Athens.

The BCS doesn't care about who the people feel deserve a shot. It takes the two teams with the most impressive resumes and pits them against each other. If you get edged out because you played a few patsies, that sucks for you. We learned that lesson the hard way in 2004, but even then our schedule was better than anything Boise State has been throwing out there lately.
With the system we have in place right now to decide the national champions, Boise State honestly and truly doesn't deserve anything.

You think that, the only problem was they started the season about 15 spots in front of us...

dude we were tied with them at #2 going into the last week of the regular season
that was kind of a reason we were left out, but the most prominent reasons were
A) USC beat us like a drum in 2003
B) Oklahoma had the better schedule than us due to Bowling Green being on their schedule and The Citadel being on ours.
C) We didn't put up style points at the end of the season
