ah, now you resort to that angle, lol. Please show where the university is trying, or has tried to be University of Louisiana. You won't be able to, because they haven't. Well, other than that time in 1984, lol.

What? No one in Cajun Nation is upset about much right now. Especially not about Billy Napier. And we all know that he will be gone one day, so are fully prepared for that to happen.

I was at Suire's the other day in Kaplan and overheard someone that claimed to be the cousin of Billy Napier's landscaping guy, and he 100% said that Billy Napier turned down a strong arse offer from South Carolina

You left out the most important part of this whole thing.

Did you opt for the shrimp & egg stew, or the turtle sauce picante?

man, all kidding aside, there are so many great things to eat there you can't go wrong. Besides all the seafood stuff, their hamburgers are the bomb. As are their tarts and pecan pie. Now I need a Suire's fix and it will be a while before I can get down there.

It doesn’t bother ULM so it shouldn’t bother you either.

Sounds like many South Carolina fans WANTED Napier, but their AD had different plans, and Gamecock fans aren't too happy about it.

Bingo. We’re not happy our AD picked Beamer when Napier was clearly interested. Not only that, we didn’t even bother interviewing other better candidates than Beamer like Chadwell, Freeze, and the Army coach whose name eludes me. Chadwell I know was interested and made it known he was down for it, pending the $$. I’ve heard Freeze was interested, not because of any strong pull to us personally, mainly the opportunity to get back in the SEC so he could get his pound of flesh (pun not intended).

We are a clear step up from ULL. We interviewed him and went with Beamer. None of us believe Beamer is better than Napier at all. I would gladly traded staffs with y’all right away. But our PTB felt differently so here we are.

LSU’s next head coach will most certainly have a darker complexion

So, basically the USCe administration fumbled the hire. That's not a bad mark on Napier; that's a bad mark on the administration.

Personally, I could care less whether or not he was offered. He can stay in Lafayette for as long as he wants.

"KNOW YOUR PLACE. WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!"

Most, if not almost all, of the national media now calls us "Louisiana." It's basic athletic branding. No matter how loud your bubble in Baton Rouge screams and whines about it, it is done.

Worry about your own school's problems
(and there's many at the moment) than what we call ourselves.

Hud was a semi hot name at one point too, but he didn't jump on the opportunity and look at him now. Napier seems to be a different beast than Hud though, with a higher ceiling, and I don't expect the same drop.

another glaring difference, Napier recruits local home grown talent and has a good relationship with local hs coaches. Billy is in the coaches offices shooting the shite and forming relationships while the only appearances Hud made was when he would fly in at half time on Fridays in an Acadiana Ambulances helicopter once a season.

i understand passing on south carolina. the whole auburn thing was weird and could come back to bite him in the arse but hes probably really eyeing a true major job like LSU or if the message board rumblings about riley looking to jump to the NFL. either way he would probably be the 2nd option behind campbell in that scenario

I think that has been one of the HUGE improvements. There's way too much talent in Louisiana to piss off those high school coaches and treat them and their players like they don't matter.

He turned down Auburn because the athletic dept wouldn't even let him pick all of his own assistants if he had taken it.

Hud would literally fly in on the helicopter and then leave in a car. Did it just for the spectacle.
