More like Gary banging Henry's mom gave him the motivation needed to finish the season strong.

Good call. For some reason I didn't even think of that one. That has to be the biggest "what if's" in sports.

Yeah I can't think of 1 that really comes close to the Babe Ruth deal when you consider the next 70 years of history of the Yanks vs Sox.

2005 NHL Season

Florida Panthers trade All Star goalie Roberto Luongo to the Boston Bruins for All Star center Joe Thornton.

Trade never went down because Florida's GM was asking for too much in return from Boston. Florida then ships Luongo to Vancouver Canucks.
*Joe Thornton was traded to San Jose Sharks.

Boston a few months later after the season starts names Tim Thomas their starting goalie.

( and the legend of Tim Thomas would of never been born. )

What if Griffey, Jr hadn't been hurt half his career?

SERIOUSLY. If he hadn't been hurt so much he could've been one of the GOAT

And we wouldn't have to listen to all the Bonds/McGuire/Sosa BS.

I think the biggest what if is Detroit Pistons never passing up on Melo or Wade in 2003 NBA Draft.

Dallas Cowboys passing up on selecting Randy Moss 1998 NFL draft.

Also related to Cowboys, what if Herschel Walker was never traded? There definitely wouldn't have been the triplets.

What if Rick Ankiel had control of his...we wouldn't get to see the lasers from CF and that guy on 3rd for the Astros would have scored the other night

there was no such thing as Human Growth hormone and no such thing as steroids, andro-testosterone.

Mark McGuire's career would have ended with his foot problems in Oakland. NO 70 HR St Louis career.

Barry Bonds would be a sure fire hall of famer.

SEC Football related
What if Ryan Perriloux hadn't gotten kicked off LSU's team? The Tigers certainly wouldn't have gone a collective 17-9 in 2008 and 2009.

What if Eli Manning hadn't tripped in the 2003 Magnolia Bowl? Would the legend of Nick Saban be as big as it is now?

What if the UGA WR had caught the TD pass in the 2011 SEC Championship Game and put LSU down 17-0 at halftime?

What if Trent Richardson had caught the TD pass in the 2010 Iron Bowl and put Auburn down 31-7?

McGahee has actually had a pretty damn good career. Here's one though that thinking back on that tOSU/Miami NC back in 03...what if Maurice Clarett had been able to stay out of trouble and in school? Talk about wasted talent

That was kinda what I was getting after, he's had a good career after that injury, but if he didn't have it, what kind of career would he have had? I would say pretty damn close to HOF worthy.
