The game has always been ruined. This is just the latest iteration. I love this new iteration just like I love NIL and the portal iterations.
Some of you love the pre-integration interactions, Some of you love the multiple poll national titles iteration. Some of you loved the under the table pay to play iteration. Some of you loved the “non-student/no classes” iteration.
This is nothing new. It’s just your perception. I like this iteration where anyone can buy and steal players and expanded playoffs where a 3 loss team can still win a Natty.

To be fair, the GT team from 1918 had a bunch of guys in school to play football. Everybody has been trying to put together teams of ringers rather than real students at least since them.

Well I duplicated, so I will say something that partially contradicts my first post.
The last time the real students played to any extent was when the service academies has consistently good teams.
and Army had a massive cheating back then

One less reason to watch.

All those iterations preserved a couple of things that made CFB great:
1. Every game in the regular season was meaningful. One slip up and you could be knocked out
2. The players at least had some semblance of amateurism
This latest "iteration" as you call it, did away with both and that's a huge hit to the pageantry of CFB.

#8 and #7 played for the title last year. 12 team was a success in my opinion.
Ohio State had zero business being involved in a meaningful college football playoff. They played 3 games the whole season they had a chance to lose and lost 2 of them. The system sucks just like everything else in college football now. The gig is up, dwi

So if LSU gets the 8 seed this year they shouldn’t get to play it?

I agree that GT had ringers back in the day. I know the history of the sport including my own team, Bobby Dodd often brought in much older players because he could under the engineer moniker.
The entire history of the sport is a sham. Bear Bryant and Saban and Switzer and Schnellenberger, Johnson, Ford, Neyland, Dye, Dooley, Smart, Carroll, JoePa, Hayes, Schembechler, all cheated. Heck, UNC had an entire academic department created for athletes to cover up under the API years. It’s all a joke. I love this new iteration because more teams have a chance now and randomness will take hold. More games equal more injuries and more upsets.

And neither should have been in that title game.
Take care of the regular season first.
Win Regular Season Games
Beat Rivals
Win Conference
Win NC.

I'm catching a few minutes of "The U: Part 2." I personally prefer the '90's, but Wide Right III might have been peak college football era.

I like it. Gives LSU a chance to make a run late. Several seasons we have finished knocking on the door to the playoffs.
I will be thrilled if we win as an 8 seed, and so will you

Big 10 is delusional when they want same AQs as SEC. Big 10 has 3 Nati's last 20 years. That is the same as ACC. SEC has 14. Panini listed their Top 300 players in College Football. SEC had 108. Big 10 had 68. ACC had 53. Big 10 is way closer to the ACC than SEC. LSU actually led all teams with 14. Bama had 13. Next closest team had 10.
All true but none of what happens on the field matters. It's all about getting eyeballs and ratings.

What does taking care of the regular season mean when teams play unbalanced schedules? FSU was undefeated and got left out. They absolutely took care of the regular season. You telling me a team that losses one close game 9n a last second field goal because their starting QB was concussed on a late hit shouldn’t have another chance?
The expanded playoffs will be a huge success because all people want is fairness. Watching teams like Bama and UGA play a nothing schedule like we see in week 1 is not fair. So, we aren’t even in September and some of you are saying Kansas State’s season should be over.
People no longer want one and done unless it’s in a playoff. That’s why we have the playoffs.

If LSU goes under .500 in their loseable games then no they shouldn't get to play in it.

What a crazy specific metric
Posted on 8/24/25 at 10:30 am to RandySavage
Who should have been in it?

This is the point I have been bringing up.
These new playoffs remove the pagentry and rivalry of regular season games.
The Miami/FSU battles in the 80s, early 90s were epic and are still talked about today.
NO ONE would remember them if they had 12 team playoffs back then because they would have almost no bearing on the national title.
Additionally, with the new playoffs, the conference championship is significantly diminished. It no longer means an automatic bowl tie-in so it is less important.
Sad.

Georgia Oregon Texas and Notre Dame prob, 12 teams is so dumb
Posted on 8/24/25 at 11:23 am to RandySavage
12 was so much better than 4

I don't want #8 or #7 or #15 or #20 to play for the Title because somebody got hot and somebody got hurt or had to beat the same team twice in a season to advance.
I want matchups to matter, scheduling to matter, the regular season to BE the thing...not a Prelude to seeding a Tournament that becomes the defacto season and everything else was a warm up tailgate.
Money $...all they're doing. Trying to create essentially, TWO seasons... Where the Fall and Autumn is like the NBA at Christmas.
