UFC 291 looks like alot of fun. No real title fights but might be the best card of the year top to bottom so far.

The current UFC 291 lineup includes:

Justin Gaethje vs. Dustin Poirier – for BMF title
Jan Blachowicz vs. Alex Pereira
Paulo Costa vs. Ikram Aliskerov
Michael Chiesa vs. Kevin Holland
Tony Ferguson vs. Bobby Green
Derrick Lewis vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima
Michel Pereira vs. Stephen Thompson
Vinicius Salvador vs. CJ Vergara

UFC 292 is gonna have o'malley vs sterling and weili vs lemos so far.

also Francis signs with PFL. Not sure who he is gonna fight but its gonna be hilarious if some can that used to fight in the UFC knocks him out. I know PFL is trying to make waves but I just dont see how you take a risk throwing that money at a guy like Francis who isnt a draw. I do like Francis I was hoping he would come back to the UFC to fight with top level guys like jones and pavlovich but I guess this is what he wants.

I wouldnt say that. MMA is all about timing... just so happens they fought the 2 best 155ers ever.

Dustin won the interim and lost to khabib. If no khabib he would have been the real champ and still can do it imo.

I like Tony, but I hope he retires soon. He’s been taking way too much damage lately.

Huge mistake by Francis.
O'Malley is going to get demolished.

A beating he took against Gaethje would have ended most people's career. I hope he has saved some money because he does not need to be fighting anymore. He could barely hurt Nate Diaz in his last fight.

The July 29 card with Poirier vs Gaethje was supposed to be in Houston (someone who works for UFC basically confirmed this to me).. but Toyota Center have other events going on around that date so I'm assuming the Houston date has been pushed back to later this year.

Man…. Am I the only one who just doesn’t give a shite about O’Malley?

I can’t even really put my finger on it. Everything just seems so fake with him, I don’t know… it’s almost like the UFC is propping this dude allllll the way up when he really doesn’t deserve it (yet)

I guess I’m just not as enamored with him as everyone else is

Why? Even if it’s not exactly what it’s supposed to be, it’s interesting that they’re fighting for something, right?

No parameters behind it. Not really, the fight is already interesting in itself, the "title" is meaningless. The something is to try and get to Islam for a real title.

I drive alot so I listen to some of his youtube stuff and he seems pretty cool. I like the dynamic with him and his coach both being young guys and in it together from the start. From the UFC perspective o'malley understands the social media game and has grown a pretty decent following. Dana seems to be a step ahead and is building up stars that resonate with the next generation of UFC fan like guys like diaz, poirier, gaethje, etc resonate with the older fans. Thats why you see Dana hanging with the next generation like Nelk, etc so much.

I like his chances against aljo if he can keep the fight standing. his striking is really good and he def has some power. he even showed a little dog in the yan fight. I thought yan won but never rewatched.

I agree. the weird thing is you had two basically journeyman type fighters going for it that talk shite with diaz and masvidal. Both "bad" guys. Now you got two guys that win alot that dont really talk shite and dont have the bad guy image. I dont think you need this belt to sell the card. Id be like we got all the names you want to see fight stacked on one card. From that perspective the card is pretty ridiculous if it holds up.
