Are the only ones I disagree with. I'm going to address the Washington list first since I'm really familiar with the area. The Nationals are last and I mean dead last in interest in Washington D.C. Nobody watches their games on T.V. and a lot of times, the opposing fanbase has more fans in their ballpark and Nationals fans. The Redskins are far and away number one. I would put the Capitals number two with their recent success followed by the Wizards. Phoenix is clearly a Suns town. I would put the Bruins all the way at number two because they've gone through the longest championship drought in the four major sports. And Cleveland cares a lot more about the Indians than they do the Cavaliers. If it wasn't for Lebron, there wouldn't be five Cavs fans in their city. I vividly remember the long sellout streak the Indians had in the '90s and how that city was so behind their team. I just don't see Cleveland doing that with the Cavs if it's without Lebron no matter how good they are.

Where were the Indians fans before the mid-'90? Where are they now? There was a movie that depicted the scarcity of them pretty well

And the Cavs had great fans during the Price/Daugherty/Ehlo years.

The Indians are notorious for being really cheap. With how much revenue they were raking in, how were they not able to keep Albert Belle, Manny Ramirez or Jim Thome? They should have at least been able to resign one of them. And since then, they've failed to or haven't even made an effort to keep Cliff Lee, CC Sabathia or Victor Martinez. When you've basically become a farm team for other MLB teams, it's hard to maintain interest.

Which is why they're probably low in the pecking order.

The Indians had their best team in decades and a new stadium. In the 1990's, they were #2 (#1 for a while thanks to Modell, of course). But there's no doubt that the Cavs are ahead of the Indians right now.

Lot of underestimation of the popularity of hockey in this thread, particularly the OP.

For example, Bruins are #2 behind Red Sox. I've had multiple bostonians tell me that.

And that's only due to Lebron. I want to see how many fans come out to support the Cavs in the next five years if Lebron leaves for Chicago or New York. It won't be pretty.

Bahstan has always had a slight problem with a team that looks like it may have come from Roxbury...

You mean those teams with Bird, McHale, Walton, Cousy, Cowens, Havlicek and Heinsohn that won 16 championships?
