Are you basing this just on recent success? Pretty sure anybody I've talked to from Phoenix was a Suns fan first. It was just a couple of years ago that that Cardinals couldn't fill up their stadium, and Cowboys fans would outdraw the home fans. I don't there's any question it's Suns > all else.

And call me crazy, but when the Knicks are good, I think they're #1 in NYC.

No. Ever heard of the Kansas City Penguins?

That team sucking for 5 years in a row, enabling them to get 5 straight top 5 picks (including 2 #1's and 2 #2's) saved that franchise.

The Warriors are definitely higher than the A's, and it's really not even close. Check their attendances from the last decade or so. The Warriors have great attendance and they're consistently one of the shittiest teams in the NBA. The As might have the worst fans in baseball.

I think the Warriors might even be more popular than the Raiders in the Bay Area because they have been around longer and more consistently, and they're the only basketball team.

I think you have St. Louis and Phoenix confused. You may be right about Phoenix, though--just an educated guess by me.

As far as what I'm basing this on, it's all only based on asking sport fans this question: Which one of your city's teams do you want to win this/next season's title the most?

If the Knicks are good and the Yankees are struggling (by their standards), you're absolutely right. This is a great basketball town, and it's sad that there isn't a great team at either the college or pro level right now. If even St. John's goes to the Big Dance, there's serious buzz.

In 1994, I'd bet New York looked like this:

Knicks > Giants > Yankees > Rangers > Mets > Nets > Jets > Devils > Islanders

Leave the O's to Baltimore. If we're gonna play that way, then New Orleans would look like this:

Saints > Braves > Cubs > Astros > Yankees > Hornets

If it isn't based on logical chances (Amare could be gone), then it's definitely the Suns. They were the city's first pro team, they've been around for 40 years and they've had the most consistent success.

You're probably right.

I'd find this hard to believe. But I've never asked a sampling of Bay Area fans this question.

In defense of the Phillies and Mets situations, those teams are much older of course, so they have many more fans each, and it's a $30 round-trip bus ticket from either town to DC, and you don't have to stay the night. The distance between New York and Washington is about the same as Shreveport and Baton Rouge.

DC fans still yet don't go to games at Nationals park to actually 'watch' the baseball game. Nationals park has a really nice setup. When I was there for games (as a Mets fan) last summer, I sas even barely paying attention to the games ( was easy to not pay attention when John Maine gives up 7 runs in the 1st inning). But when you get to the outfield entrance, you have the Red Porch, and basically the entire outfield perimeter of the park is beer gardens. Nats fans on a Saturday nights were all dressed/gussied up and it was more of a cocktail party than a baseball game. Everyone was sloshed, and it had more of an upscale wall street scene than a 'watch a sports game' scene.

It was all just a great excuse to go bar hopping with a baseball game in the background.

Also, the Navy Yard metro stop is right there too, so you could get all sloshed up and not worry about driving anywhere.

Since you keep making references like that on this board, Ill just assume you're real familiar with it, then.

Nice to see that I have such a loyal reader on this site.

ETA: I originally typed "Cool Story Bro," but I refuse to associate myself with that phrase. I'm going to take a shower now.

This one seems like a fluid kind of list, Denver. The Broncos will always be #1, but if the Rockies ever won a pennant, they'd get notched up, and if the Nugs ever went to the Finals, they'd move up, too.
