There are more starting quarterbacks and running backs that graduated from a Conference USA school than a Big 12 school. There are more NFL players at running back and quarterback that graduated from a directional school in Illinois, i.e. Southern Illinois, than there are that graduated from Big 12 schools.
Of the 32 NFL rosters, only two have players from the Big 12 starting at quarterback or running back. Of course there’s Adrian ‘Purple Jesus’ Peterson, but the second is Cedric Benson, who won the job by default. Not a single NFL starting quarterback played in the NFL.
For arguments sake, Brandon Jacobs (Southern Illinois), Michael Turner (Northern Illinois) and Tony Romo (Eastern Illinois) make up the Illinois contingent not wearing orange and blue.
This is sad but true

So pretty much the basis of its argument is to bash the wide-array of spread offenses that exist in the Big 12 and their lack of translation into the NFL.
The same spread offenses that almost every major college football teams run to some extent.

I guess, this guy won't be so well liked when covering Big 12 games this next year, lol

agreed, dumb argument, who cares how these guys do in the nfl. these teams are focused on winning at their programs not churning out the most pro bowlers.

sure, but you ask most of these kids why they choose to go to a particular school, and most of them will tell you they have a dream to play in the NFL...

of course they do, im making a point from the programs point of view. hes making an argument that Big 12 schools dont produce NFL type players and im saying i dont think thats the programs top agenda. and for him to say that a player with NFL talent shouldnt go to a big 12 school is stupid

I thought it was a ridiculous article as well. He basically said if you play wide receiver, your fine, but if you play qb or rb, you won't make it???

True, but probably won't start right off the bat unless St. Louis goes 0-16

this problem existed long before the spread offenses took hold
for some reason big12 teams don't get THAT many kids with strong arms, and the soft Ds allow those guys to succeed
it's been this way for years and years

The Big-12 was a running conference until very recently. I think a move basically across the board towards spread offense will lead to higher level recruits at QB, even if it's not great system for QB development

Historically the Big 8 and SWC were option based offenses so this does not surprise me. The spread is not an NFL offense so no surprises about this article.

But if your goal is just to win national championships or rack up meaningless stats then come to the Big 12 — someone quick yell out where Kliff Kingsbury is playing. He threw for 14,000 yards in college he should be playing somewhere, right?
This is the big 12's Glen Guilbeau

too many white people in big 12 country... I blame Bush...

Big 12 is incredibly overrated. They are really good at beating the crap out of little guys and themselves but that is about it. If you are looking to go into the NFL go to the SEC, you line up against NFL bodies damn near almost every week.
