I can't wait for Silver's state of the union press conference during All Star weekend.

Magic is really really starting to piss me off now

This is Elton Brand:

quote:

"[Lakers general manager] Rob Pelinka called me and said 'Hey, we're hearing Ben wants to talk to Hall of Famers, championship-level players, and Magic is on the list. We need authorization for him to meet up.' And I said 'No.' This is over a month ago, so I said no," Brand explained.

Magic then decides to say it needs to be cleared by the league and the Sixers on Sunday or he won't do it, but that fricker already knew it was turned down by Brand at that point. He's just trying to get the Sixers to look like the bad guy. fricking a-hole.

24/7 .The Lakers & LeBron obsession is real.

Yet no whining fans have bothered to mention the Bucks have been fined for tampering with Anthony Davis. Bucks ownership making far more blatant overtures to AD than Magics innocuous statement about Giannis last season.

So Brand blocked it a month ago, but then Magic STILL goes and brings it up to the media this weekend when Lakers were playing in Philly about Simmons supposedly wanting to talk with him and having to clear it thru the Sixers and league office first....after the Sixers already shut it down.

Add in the AD tampering and the Lakers/Magic past tampering:

quote:

In 2017, the NBA fined the Lakers $500,000 for violating anti-tampering rules; Pelinka was found to have violated league rules in his dealings with Paul George and his agent. The Lakers were fine $50,000 in 2018 comments Johnson made about Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

League needs to start looking at some loss of draft pick and/or salary cap penalties for the Lakers as repeat offenders.

Magic openly recruits Paul George on Jimmy Kimmel, fined for talking about Giannis, tries to use the media to get AD, then volunteers without being coerced that Ben Simmons wanted to talk to him. All he had to say was "I can't comment on players under contract".

I wonder if they'll sell KL the same lies they sold Blake Griffin before trading him 6 months after signing the max?

Ben Simmons is the ultimate team player. Philadelphia should be grateful that he graced them with his presence for as long as he did. Ben Simmons is not the biggest bitch ever.

No one cares because everyone knows that there is a 0% chance that he will be traded there

Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand called Los Angeles Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson on Monday afternoon to apologize for insinuating in a radio interview that the Lakers had called -- unprompted -- to ask permission for Johnson to speak with Sixers forward Ben Simmons, league sources told ESPN.

In the interview with 97.5 The Fanatic on Monday morning, Brand said, "[Lakers GM] Rob Pelinka called me and said that Ben wanted to talk to Hall of Famers after the season; Magic was on the list. He asked for authorization ... I said no."
Brand did not mention in that interview that someone from the Sixers, at the urging of one of Simmons' brothers, had contacted Pelinka first, which is what prompted Pelinka's call to Brand.
The Lakers issued a statement later Monday that read: "To clarify, last November the 76ers sent an email to the Lakers asking if Ben Simmons would be able to speak with Magic Johnson about his Hall of Fame playing career. After receiving the email request from the 76ers, Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka contacted 76ers General Manager Elton Brand and informed him that Magic could only do so if the 76ers gave him pre-written approval. That was the end of the matter."
