i know they have a real, legit offense...but their OL talent just isn't that good, so against good teams it's a scramble drill

their offense does have a back yard football type feeling to it. receivers get open by breaking off their routes and finding holes in the coverage. tough for any defense to defend if you allow the QB to run wild like that.

I figured the best way to beat Barbe was to keep their offense off the field by sustaining long, clock-eating drives and pounding the ball up the gut; however, JJ was saying that Barbe's D is so bad, you can't even try to do this without scoring which is why their offense gets so many opportunities.

Is Fontenot a senior? If so, is he getting any looks? I understand he's a baseball prospect as well.

It's actually more incredible. When QBs scramble, that's when you typically get a hold or block in the back. That's not why Barbe won though. A lot of heart, a lot of execution, and a lot of luck is why they won that game.

yeah their D isn't that good this year and their LBs put on a shite show of a performance. they were actually pretty good at getting the ballcarriers hit in good positions...they just didn't tackle them. hilarity ensued

barbe's special teams were the real culprit, especially punting. this is kind of funny since the game was basically lost down the line with ST (WM missing a PAT, the onside kicks, etc), but those were out weird/outlier stuff

last year barbe had a good defense and did well against WM...they just shite the bed. barbe was better than WM and lost...same with WM this year

i actually don't know. i thought he was a senior but somebody told me he's a junior. i don't keep up with high school football though. D is definitely a senior and quinn is definitely a junior.

i don't think barbe's OL is really blocking anybody at that point. usually there are 2-3 guys in the backfield

oh and i have to go back on what i said in the game thread about the local people

there was a HUGE section of the WM side that was filled with locals (mostly from sulphur) cheering for WM. when i asked in the thread who the "crossing guards" (they were in like neon yellow with orange hunter vests on) were, i thought it was the WM students or something. naw...it was sulphur people

They'll be extremely difficult to stop next year if that's the case. I mean, it's tough for the defense to get much worse, so a year of experience under their belt will only be beneficial.

It was kids being kids. They all know each other and actually most of the Sulphur kids tickets had been purchased during the week by their Barbe buddies. My son spent pregame at one of his friend's house from Barbe then went to the game to meet a friend from WM and cheer against Barbe. His friends from Barbe knew exactly where he was going and expected no different. Just a lot of fun for the kids. I would rather they did it this way then vandalism or some other things that have taken place in years past between Barbe and Sulphur. It was quite a ride to the dome a few years ago when I had one playing football so I well know the feeling of the kids, parents and fans right now. We know quite a few on the Barbe team and community and wish them all the luck.
