This is true. I'm friends with many of them.

And there are plenty of people who live in the suburbs of Atlanta that love Atlanta. They just happen to live in the burbs due to proximity to their job or because they found a more affordable house, etc. Those are the people who don't trash the ITP area and/or call downtown a "ghetto".

Most people in the Greater Atlanta area aren't from around here, and thus have ties to other sports teams. That's the primary reason for it.

To be fair, no one has any attachment to the Thrashers...

And I think that your assessment is spot on.

Don't lump us in with that place.

Don't worry...not many in the Atlanta area would agree to be lumped in with Houston.

I have been to Atlanta wearing oposing team colors over a dozen times and never felt unsafe. Yes you do have a lot of bums out at night, but it isn't that bad downtown.

Atlanta has one of the best urban located stadiums in the country. I enjoy going there for games.

Why don't you let the locals decide where they want their stadium to be? It's mainly for them, not just once a year visitors.

Is it any mystery that JJ decided not to build the Jerry World in Fair Park?

I live practically downtown and have never once felt unsafe. More crime happens in DeKalb county than in downtown Atlanta. Hell, Georgia States campus is safer than Georgia Tech's.

What on earth are you talking about? Do you know where Georgia Tech's campus is?

Exactly.

The intown neighborhoods are the place to be these days...Candler Park, Inman Park, Grant Park, Virginia-Highlands. Houses in those areas are selling for anywhere from $350,000 to $750,000 and are a 10 to 15 minute drive to Turner Field and about the same to the Philips/CNN/Dome.

Of course there are areas to avoid, but I can find areas in Gwinnett and Cobb that I would avoid as well.

This is dead accurate. My sister and her fiance just bought a house in Ansley Park and those in town neighborhoods are awesome right now.

I can't imagine living all the way out in fricking Suwanee... talk about suburbia hell

You can't relate to someone wanting to raise their kids in a safe environment? I can go to dowtown Houston for games, restaurants, etc. whenever I want to. I don't want to live over there. Also, my house in Riveroaks would cost about 3m. and we pay higher property tax rather than state income tax. Why would I want to live in the city?

Or you could live somewhere else inside the ~80 square miles inside the loop? No one wants to live in downtown Houston because downtown Houston is fricking terrible.

Um, maybe Falcons fans aren't all that passionate because they have mostly always sucked. Now they have worked their way all the way up to "team most likely to shite the bed too early in the playoffs".

Yippee!
