Giants paying $26M to the Braves (of the $32M owed to Soler over the next two years). May be a significant prospect cost.

Nothing for a contract that could maybe be something… Don’t hate it, don’t love it, but at least we’re trying I guess.

Braves are into the second highest tier of CBT penalties now. Could theoretically take on about $50-$60M (about $18-$20 in pro rated money) more in full season salaries tomorrow without breaking into the top penalty tier if they’re willing to accept being in that fourth tier and moving back 10 spots in the draft next year. Could potentially be a very interesting day tomorrow if they’re willing to take on a couple of big expiring deals.

I mean watching our OF attempt to catch fly balls post all star break has been brutal, so a rusty Soler who hasn’t played any OF in 3 years (he pretty much always DH’d in Zona) can’t be any worse.
With that said, this move reeks of AA seeing negative Twitter comments and being like “oh yeah, member Soler’s homer?”
