Its always frustrating to see a pitcher absolutely work the next batter after giving up a homer

Some guys really get in their head with runners on, but I've never noticed Charlie being fazed by anything.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing if Morton is interested in another season, but there's no way we can pay him anything remotely close to $20M again next year after this shite.

Picked a rough time for the bats to go cold. Getting shut down by Scherzer is one thing, but Peterson and Bassitt? Yikes.

I don’t want to watch a washed Morton next year. Surely we can do better.

Ronald trying to make something happen here. Gotta get him in at least.

We sure talked a lot of shite this week. It appears we may have done some over/under-estimating.

ETA: This series has been a clear tale of two approaches. We look completely lost and impatient at the plate while they look pretty confident and comfortable.

Still like the Braves lineup by a good margin. Mets pitching has been impressive though. With Ian struggling, Morton showing his age at bit, and Strider being a rookie and possibly going to be dealing with innings issues I’m not as confident in the starting pitching holding up. Seems like a lot of upside and downside with how the SP is going to play out for the Braves rest of year/playoffs.

We’re gunna need some deadline acquisitions if we want a deep play off push again.

Their starting pitching (at least to this point) has been able to go fairly deep into the games, and also do it without digging the team a hole. Morton put us in a hole, Strider and Fried both had shorter outings.

And should only get better. Anyone know when Megill is getting back? I believe when he and deGrom are back, Peterson will be back in the bullpen.

What can we realistically go after? I don't think there is a spot they can get a huge upgrade at unless theres a 2B rental out there and Ozzie's injury is worse than we thought.

We have a lot invested in the bullpen as it is, and its been good for the most part.

I don't think they will give up on Ian this soon, but he would be the odd man out if they got another starter. And as a 5th starter hes fine anyway.

I think we are fine offensively.

No one other than Fried is going to be asked to go more than 5 in the playoffs.

If Matzek can regain his form and Yates is effective we have pretty much the same formula as last year. It’s one reason I would prefer Strider be able to go to the pen in the playoffs.

Being able to fire Matzek, Minter, McHugh, Yates, Strider, Lee, Jansen (and maybe Smith lol) at people after the starter gets you through 4-5 is pretty imposing.

Like what? This lineup and defense is good enough to make a run I think. Particularly when Ozzie gets back.

Bullpen has been fine and will get Jansen back soon.

SP? This is the big question for me. On paper some combo of Max, Wright, Morton, Strider and Ian should be formidable in the playoffs but Morton and Ian have been very inconsistent (Ian just kind of bad really) and can we count on rookie Strider to hold up? Will Soroka surprise and be back to pre-injury form? What a bonus that would be to just add a top of rotation arm to the mix for “free.”

This series has shown the downside to the Braves approach to teambuilding. They built a lineup that is going to strike out a ton when they go cold, and here we are.

Meanwhile, the Mets put balls in play and don't strike out. Our pitchers would probably be better served pitching to contact with most of their guys.

I feel like the only logical reason Harris isn't hitting behind Contreras in this lineup is that they want to have a "leadoff hitter" in front of Ronald when the lineup turns over

With our struggles in the bottom half of the order, give me more Harris PAs.

We scored 59% of our runs in the postseason last year via the home run and struck out at a higher rate than any team in the playoffs.
