As long as he doesn’t lose his approach again like he did most of last year it should be a great one.
Riley’s though….. I prefer not to look at it
I wonder when they will decide to offer Baldwin an extension and how many arb years they’ll buy out

Hopefully not for anothe couple of years, since he's still pre-arb.

In 2025, Harris produced-
20 doubles
6 triples
20 home runs
20 stolen bases
He had a terrible start, but many of our fans go overboard about the struggles of players.

Worth extending Baldwin, if it’s a team friendly deal. The NL DH gives him a chance to extend his career.
Crazy that Drake is only making $800,000 with his production.

Even if when he was struggling at the plate the last few years, he was still providing elite defense at a premium position. Harris' contract has never been a problem considering CF's across the league aren't really doing much offensively.

We are going to 100% extend him in a similar manner to our other good young stars but Broski is right. It is a huge cap help for us while he plays like maybe a top 5 catcher in the game for so little money especially the amount he makes before arb.
I would try to offer him a deal where we start it his final year of pre arb for more concessions on his end or if he doesnt want that buy out his final arb years and maybe 2 more so a 5 year deal or something

I would even let him go to arbitration for the first year before extending him.,
One year of arbitration won't kill us and it gives us another year of data to figure out if he is worth giving a really long contract to. We got burned by Riley and Strider in locking them up for a lot of year before arbitration and now we're on the hook for a couple of albatross contracts.
Agents are always going to negotiate a couple of extra years on the backend in return for forgoing arbitration.

If you’re Walt, do you go with a six man rotation now?
I hate to shorten the pen, but I like the idea of giving most of the guys more rest.

No.
For one Elder insist on always being on normal rest and hes been amazing so that would be a cluster to manage.
Sale
Strider
Elder
Ritche
Perez
Holmes in bullpen or spot starts
Lopez looks a bit washed and grant I have confidence would kill it out of the pen

I hear you, but Strider looked like the best pitcher in baseball yesterday. The Braves win the World Series if Spencer can do that more often than not.

Wonder how much he got from our pool?
We have a lot of international pool money this cycle its one of the reasons we are expected to maybe barely jump into the low teens in farm rankings after it and the draft

He looked good no doubt. But over the course of the extension that we've given him, he's looked more bad than good.
Had we not been so hellbent on locking him up after a handful of starts, we'd still have contract control over him right now and because of his performances and injuries over the last two years, we'd be paying him significantly less right now.
Since it's become more of a practice by GM's to make the gamble on buying out the pre-arb and arb years in hopes of getting a discount on the backend, it seems that those type of contracts more times not been worth it than worth it.

Braves have three of the top eight in NL RBIs.
Top 6 in today’s batting order have 20 or more RBIs.

The stupid thing with the Strider extension at the time was that we didn't even get much of any advantages out of it. We basically just guaranteed a full contract for one possible extension year at market rate at the time. It was completely pointless on our end.
Deals like the Harris deal (where we got an extra 4 years at a nice discount) are worth the risk. Deals like Strider are just dumb. And any ten year deal like we gave Riley is plain dumb, those never work out long term.

Braves also have 2 in the top 10 of what fan graphs describes as clutch moments Ozzie at 3 at Harris at 10. If you factor in dom smith he’s at 2 but hasn’t had enough AB to qualify
Posted on 5/10/26 at 3:12 pm to td01241
Not the best start we couldve mustered

Dubon and Ozzie both swinging 1st pitch against a guy who has 15 SO the whole year.
