Much deserved off day before we begin a series with the tigers.

Biggest news items are:

Lopez is moving to the bullpen, Braves say it’s to work on issues with his mechanics which is probably true but it’s also likely because…

Strider is expected to be finished with rehab starts and will make his next scheduled start with the Braves in the series after the Tigers

Kim is joining AA to begin his live game rehab assignment tomorrow

Sale
Strider
Elder
Holmes
Ritchie

Perez as a 6th man

Lopez to help bolster the pen and bad Suarez can GTFO.

Hopefully Ritchie can hang so Holmes can also move to the pen once Schwellenbach comes back.

I need to see a lot from Strider before we slot him in as the #2.

Ritchie needs more seasoning too.

What are the latest updates on AJSS and Schwelly?

Last I saw is AJSS isn’t expected to pitch all season.

Schwelly hasn’t been given any updates really anytime recently but I know for a fact he won’t pitch before the all star break and likely not until August if he does pitch this season.

The good news is in Striders last rehab start he threw 82 pitches in 5 innings with 7ks and 17 whiffs

His fastball averaged 95.3 mph and induced vertical break metrics nearly identical to his 2023 numbers. These are very good signs

Im assuming he wasnt fully letting it go 100% on every pitch and would guess/hope when he joins the club in Colorado to make his first start that number will be upwards to 97.

Strider can still be a very good pitcher at 95 but he will never be as elite as he once was unless he can get back to somewhere like I said in the 97.5 range average

Recently read Schwelly hopeful to resume throwing in may, with a possible return near the All Star break.
AJSS is throwing off a mound in Florida with a potential return in August.

Key words "all fully healthy" and on top of their game.
Looking forward to JR's 2nd start vs the best AL starter.

Yeah hopefully he can stick in the rotation at this level.

Maybe, but that was the talking point the last few times he was on his rehab assignments and the velo just never came back. His slider just doesn't tunnel off the fastball as well if the fastball isn't sitting 97-98.

I hope I'm wrong, but Strider is going to have get better command of the changeup and the curveball that he was working on before this most recent injury if he wants to stick in this rotation and not get shelled.

Probably depends on injuries to our current rotation, how well strider performs in his return, when or if Schwelly returns, and how JR plays moving forward. Plus Hurston is still injured and I have no idea on his progress towards returning

I still maintain my position we should’ve traded him in the off season to sell high on his excellent second half of last season
