There's a college here in the ASUN that just started playing football period in 2015 and has a stadium capacity of a whopping 7500.

They're actually the second largest school in GA (over 41k students enrolled). Supposedly they're planning on buying a nearby mall which they already use for parking and busing to build a new stadium but it'll be least 5 year down the line.

Conference USA is an established FBS conference.

I mean kinda sorta but not really in much of a significant way at this point.

CUSA only even still exists b/c WKU and MTSU decided they didn't want to join the MAC. Otherwise it's either teams nobody else wanted plus a couple schools originally meant to be part of the WAC. The new iteration of CUSA barely resembles it's former glory to the point that most CFB fans would struggle to name the schools that will be in the conference going forward.

Of note, the WAC is older than CUSA and was a D1A/FBS conference for decades. It had already stated over a year ago that it was going to be moving back up to FBS. While it's obviously nowhere near what it used to be the WAC name does still carry some brand recognition.

Regardless, once you look at team makeup both conferences are essentially the same. The big feather for CUSA is Liberty which is somewhat hilarious b/c it took the threat of the conference ceasing to exist to ever even consider them.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if CUSA and WAC/ASUN eventually work out a sort of trade so they can both be better geographically aligned.

Perception means absolutely nothing when it comes to bylaws and existing classification.

That isn’t true. The only was C-USA was dying was in the event that at least two of UTEP, Louisiana Tech and FIU were also poached. The second you intend to leave the conferences you lose voting power. There just would have been more FCS call ups and a waiver would have likely been required.

Once again, this is completely irrelevant to the conversation at hand.

Key point, it was. It no longer is an FBS conference. There are gray areas in the NCAA by laws which is what this group is trying to exploit.

You failed to mention that the center of their entire plan was the fact FBS Football Independent New Mexico State was a member of their conference. Their argument was going to be that NMSU was the ladder and pathway to pull the entire conference to FBS status. NMSU is no longer a member of the WAC.

Well not quite seeing as C-USA has seven current FBS schools and this group has zero.

Once again… Completely irrelevant to whatever point you are trying to make.

Will never happen. This schools have no chance of actually joining the CFP and for that reason Conference USA will select whatever call ups it needs or wants.

It is clear you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and just dislike Conference USA (and more than likely just hate Louisiana Tech).
