Tulane's two biggest problems are a lack of resources for football and relatively tough admissions standards. The former is a far bigger problem than the latter and will be difficult to overcome.
I wouldn't fret and here's why. Tulane has done well since post-Katrina where they were stationed in north Louisiana. Things have rebounded successfully, in my opinion. The program is in good standing at this time.

Tulane's 8th Recruit: New Orleans, LA (Jesuit) DT Shane Delery (6-4, 255)
"...likely will be an interior lineman for Tulane. He joins teammate Peyton Jason, a running back, among a group of four Louisiana players committed to the Green Wave. Delery is rated No. 109 nationally among defensive tackle prospects by Scout.com and was recruited by defensive line coach Grant Higgison."
"Delery is qualified academically with a 22 on the ACT. He had other offers from South Alabama, UL-Monroe and Nicholls State. He made unofficial visits to Tulane, LSU, Auburn and SMU this summer." [According to ESPN, Delery also considered: Clemson, GT, Louisville and Penn State]
"'I think they're going to want me to play three tech (tackle),' Delery said. 'That's where I'm most dominant. I feel like the sky's the limit for me. I can play the three tech or the five tech (end). I want to play football and get a good education, and Tulane is the best place for that. I'm not going to play football forever.'"

Tulane's 10th Recruit: John Curtis (River Ridge, LA) DE, Mike Henry (6-5, 265)
Times-Picayune: Curtis blue chipper Mike Henry commits to Tulane:
Times-Picayune: Curtis blue chipper Mike Henry commits to Tulane:
quote:
Curtis lineman Mike Henry attended the Green Wave’s 24-10 victory against UL-M in the Superdome and verbally committed to Coach Bob Toledo afterwards in the winning team’s jubilant locker room.
“(Toledo) was excited,’’ Henry said. “He told I made his day even better.’’
Henry, 6-foot-6, 270 pounds, is in his third year as a starting defensive tackle for Curtis’ perennial state champions, but he projects as an offensive lineman with the Wave. He runs the 40 in 4.95 seconds and bench presses 340 pounds in addition to possessing enough athleticism to start at center on the Curtis basketball team.
...
Interestingly, Henry’s two official offers to this point were from Tulane and UL-M, although he has attracted recruiting interest from LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida.

Glad to see Tulane get a few decent players. I wish they could get the best of the non-LSU players in Louisiana. I am not a Tulane hater like a lot of others on this board. I support ALL Louisiana teams...

I've enjoyed following Tulane football since my daughter is now attending there.
I have the highest respect for Bob Toledo and wish him well in making the Tulane program respectable and competitive.
I would love to see a state-of-the-art 20-25K seat stadium on campus or close to campus.
