He was considered a reach or “project” He also had far fewer starts in college than Daniels. While not a 100% guarantee generally QBs that have more starts in college have done better as rookies of late (Nix) but at least 2 years seems to help.

There were posters that said Stroud would suck because he went to Ohio State and Ohio State QBs have been busts. There were posters that said Mahomes would suck because Texas Tech QBs suck. Generally i find pretty much any QB prospect a sizable portion of online posters will say he sucks and will never be good.

Also a lot of posters think it’s a zero sum outcome. As if it’s not possible for say both Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr to be good.
