They are making this out to be his greatest feat, but this is nothing compared to his normal climbs - uniform, predictable.

I've been to the top of Taipei 101 in one of the fastest elevators in the world.

The fricked up thing is that that's part of the allure of watching it, no?
Kind of like the time Karl Wallenda fell over 100 ft. to his death at age 73 while trying to cross between 2 high rises on the wire. It was being broadcast live and he got out on the wire with the long balance pole, started getting out of balance and shaking the wire, eventually dropped the pole and fell to his death.
There was a quick cut-away when he left the wire on his way down.

I tend to agree. I'm all for living your life and finding what makes you happy, but there are limits when it comes to the welfare of your family in the long run.
Kind of like that wing suit guy who had made hundreds of flights over the years, but crashed into a rock face at over 120 mph killing him instantly a couple weeks ago and leaving behind a wife and young kids.
To me, that's more being selfish than sensible.

Agreed. He had to go out if his way on the "dragons" to make it even a little but difficult. But it was just repetitive motions even on those and he had practiced hundreds of times.
Still, one mistake at the wrong time and he's dead... and it's still a massively tall tower so physically and mentally exhausting.

Gotta love the female commentator saying Alex's wife is the real hero for having the nerve to stand on solid ground and watch her husband. This is how women really think. lol
