Its on youtube. Its about a HS team in Arkansas that always goes for it on 4th down, and always onside kicks. They basically never punt no matter where they are on the field. They've sent quite a load of players to D1. Have amazing facilities for a HS program.

I watched this series and thought it was the best documentary on HS football that I've seen. It was nearly 100% football. The kids were respectful, the coaches were entertaining, and they have a real sweetheart of a girl on the team that is there to just do onside kicks. She's so shy and the coach is always on her arse when she screws up. It's really compelling.

Thanks, will watch it later, but I'm starting to get an odd feeling that soon having a female kicker for specialized squib kicks will be THE woke thing, and not having one will be frowned upon.

Kevin Kelley is kind of a semi- controversial figure in Arkansas. No one doubts his football acumen or his innovation, but PA is a private HS playing in a public HS division and that makes for plenty of advantages.

He also won't find a better situation in the state. PA is all in, pays well, and he won't take a college OC job because of his ego, plus they probably wouldn't do everything he wants to game managemenr wise.

He also really takes advantage of ill prepared HS teams and that probably wouldn't be the case in larger colleges.

Missouri State was supposedly looking at him hard last year, but Petrino apparently called and wanted the job, so they hired him instead. Columbia was also looking at him a few years ago but backed out at the last minute.

I personally love what Kelley does. But he rubs alot of people the wrong way in the state. It's probably part jealousy and part his arrogance.

Put it this way, if he's your guy, you love him. If your playing his team, you hate him.

PA is going to win the Arkansas 5A state title again this year too. I think he scares alot of traditionalists as well. If he ever won big at a college, it would totally flip how the game is played.

Edit: he also coaches a bunch of rich kids from good homes who have had extensive coaching their entire lives. The Jr High also runs his system, so it's kind of like Haynesville, LA in that way where it breeds through the whole school system.

He also doesn't always got for 2. Just on Friday in a playoff Game he kicked multiple extra points and FGs. He only does it, though, when it's mathematically to his advantage to not risk the 2-pt conversion.

I get the impression their coach, Kevin Kelley, has grown bitter over the years because he hasn’t been given a shot as a D1 head coach.

I’ve heard him mention Hugh Freeze, Gus Malzahn, and Chad Morris a lot, but those coaches didn’t jump straight from HS to head coaches in college.

Exactly. Those guys all played the game and went the OC route first. He won't do that.

He's also older than those guys by a lot when they made the jump. I think he's in his mid-late 50s now.

Hunter Henry is an alum. Most schools in Arkansas don't have a legit current NFL player that came through in the last 5-10 years.

Many football experts checked them out and did not find it a consistent way to go.

Yeah, thats the impression I got. At first, it seems like the producers wanted to make PA into like an underdog team that is doing all these unconventional things in order to win, but really they have alot of talent, and the richest facilities probably in the state of Arkansas, so I think they'd win regardless of what method they chose.

I just thought it was such a well made series. I'm a documentary junkie for HS sports, but too many of them end up being like the old MTV series two-a-days on Hoover where it becomes a teen reality show, than just a football doc. But this one was nearly all behind the scenes football.

I won't spoil it for people that haven't watched, but there's a moment where Savannah (the girl kicker) starts tearing up on the sidelines, and I wont tell you what happens but it's a good scene. And then another one when PA goes down to play Shreveport Evangel Christian, and the EC coaching staff after the game in the handshake line gets to Coach Kelley and says something like "That was awesome..even though it was against us, we loved it". Opposing coaches literally enjoying the way he plays even though they are losing to it. It's pretty fascinating.

If you like football docs, I liked this better than the Netflix series on JUCO football, because these kids just seem so much more likeable. The QB is a good dude, the girl kicker is a sweetie, the 5'8 155 pound All State Asian LB'er is awesome. The producers definitely picked out some interesting storylines on the team but it really made for a good series.

You should watch the doc on Deion Sanders and his son Shadeur. He’s a QB and Deion is (well was) the OC at his High School. It’s made by the same YouTube channel. It’s really good

Any successful football coach is going to run people the wrong way. Just how it goes
