Practice is so necessary. I send my kid to a shooting guy who just focuses on shooting mechanics and he’ll be lights out the next game.

Maybe this is kind of a thread hijack but are there any good ball handling coaches in BR for middle schoolers/high school?

Same model accepted in baseball.
It’s broken. Everyone who has a clue knows it.
The issue???
Not kids. Not coaches. Not umpires.
Its parents. No one wants to see their kid struggle. No one wants to see him work. They want to fill their boys with pleasure and feel like their money entitles them to said pleasure.
Then, a few years down the road, they can’t understand why he can’t hold a job, won’t leave home, can’t date, won’t take responsibility for his actions, and ends up depressed, addicted, and/ or in jail.

I just wish these entitled bastards could hit more than 60% of their free throws in college. You’ve been shooting the same distance for 10 years.

Bad FT shooting is pretty rare; there is one team in 362 that can't get to the 60% mark as a team, Army, who is essentially right at 60% with a little rounding. They're the worst FT shooting team in basketball by almost a full percentage point, marking them as a noteworthy outlier.

For contrast, there are 4 teams that are over 79% as a *team*

FT shooting over time varies very little, but we're actually at or near the historical high point in FT shooting.

BRO.

Dr. J made his name in Rucker Park in the 70s my dude.
Rucker Park in the 70’s is a completely different world from Hot Sauce, The Professor and Escalade.

The impact of And1 was very minimal. However, you said

Even the NBA as a brand has shifted a bit to basketball being portrayed as an urban, street, hip hop sport.

The NBA has bee branded as urban/street since the 70s at least, but possibly even the 60s. The Goat played in the 60s, for instance. And1 didn't create that connection

This is fine and dandy. Lots of team stats bear that out. I’m not talking about that, I’m talking about the individual a-hole that’s can’t shoot over 50% and has a mental block

We used dribble up and youtube videos.

See if you can find a local high school kid/College kid and do lessons.

You’d think Army of all teams would have dudes who could knock down 80% at minimum from the line
