Honestly I don't want the Big 12 Title Game right now. Too much of a chance for an upset.
A spot in the BCS Title Game is all I'm dreaming for at this point.

So you'd rather lose your division, not even play for your conference championship, and hope to slide backasswards into the title game? Awesome to see this is what the BCS has brought us

We go to and lose the Big 12 Championship Game and no BCS Title Game for us. No BCS Game Period. Or we could let Tech go in our place, not have to worry about the possibility of an upset, and get an extra week rest as we prepare for our trip to Miami.
What sounds like the better option to you?

See UGA last year. If Oregon State loses to Oregon, it would be USC over Texas.

Would think both Penn State and Utah have a better chance of playing in the BCS NC even if Tech were to win the Big 12.

In the computers your are right, but I think voters could skew the rankings to put a Pac 10 champion USC in over a didn't win the Big 12 South Texas. Of course, until the BCS comes out I am only speculating. That being said, any Texas fan hoping to not make the Big 12 Championship game is stupid.
