One of the greatest hitters ever?????
he was a great player until he BROKE the rules. Every stat he continues to put up are fictional in my mind. Any record he may set should be excluded immediately.

I think there's an argument for Mantle as most talented, but never lived up to his insane potential, mostly because of his injury early in his career followed by too much partying. Early in his career he was about like Mike Trout is now.
Best all around player was probably Mays, best hitter was probably Williams. (imo)

your a fool
You're a fool if you think it's likely Correa is going to hit 50 homers in a season.
One dude has done it in the last 5 years. It's extremely tough in this day in age.

It's officially over for us late 80s babies. Our sports childhood has ended and it will never return.

A-Rod, Kobe, and Peyton all retiring, it's really over, my youth is gone.

He never once said he was likely to duplicate A-Rod. You're putting words in his mouth.

Not really sure why you're laughing. He's not wrong
He very likely is. I seriously doubt even the potential for Correa to hit 55+ home runs.

I wonder if the Red Sox will give him Arroyo's mitt as a send off.
I was sad to see Jeter go, I'll be happy to see this douchebag gone.

The guy said we'll never see someone hit 57 homers and play GG-caliber defense at shortstop ever again.
He responded saying we literally have a guy with the potential to do that right now.
Correa isn't hitting 55+ homers. Ever. That's what I'm laughing at.

It is amazing to me that Mantle put up the numbers he did, while playing with basically a shredded knee his entire career

He said the potential. That's all.
Meh. Crazier stuff has happened before. As an Astros fan, this would be amazing to see.

I love how his defense during the game was "that's how I run."
Posted on 3/23/16 at 2:34 pm to BCMCubs
No. Mantle was more talented than Mays and every other player to ever play the game. His physical gifts was off the charts. He was timed running from the batter's box to first base in 3.1 seconds. For comparison's sake, Bo Jackson's speed to first was 3.2 seconds and Deion Sanders speed was 3.3 seconds. Yes, Mantle was faster running down the first base line than Bo Jackson and Deion Jackson, two of the greatest athletes in the history of American sports. The man was truly a freak of nature.

And even that is silly and a bit of Astros homerism.
I'd say he has the potential to hit 45-47, and will very likely hit 40 in more than one season.
55 is a whole different galaxy. I'm not sure someone has done that since the middle of the steroid era.

Did he say it's likely? It's possible. If you annualize his numbers and compare to A-Rod when he was 20 (when he was in his 3rd year BTW), they are pretty close, batting-wise. And we are talking about 1996 vs. 2015 here.
I would give the nod to A-Rod, but it just seems kind of silly to rule out the possibility when Correa is in the league.

A-Rod is also dating the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin who's obviously loaded beyond belief. He truly has won at the game of life.

Just trying to help the team win

My bad, Astros fans. It is silly of me to assume that Correa won't be one of the top 5-10 players ever.
My apologies.
My apologies.
