LSU used to sue you if you resold tickets.
Then they partnered with StubHub in like 2015 or so and begged me to sell my tickets every game so they could get an extra cut of each ticket

Why when the school can do nothing and get paid?
This is from the OP's article. LSU is partnered with SeatGeek as their official ticket resale partner too, so I'd assume LSU has a similar deal. Why deal with the hassle and overhead expense of running the platform yourself when you can do nothing and get a 20% cut?
Because you can improve the fan experience. Increase your donor base. Protect your home field advantage.
All while framing it as you are protecting your fanbase from the stub hub vultures of the world.
You also have full control of the product if you own it.
That is the direction corporations are moving. Cut out the middle man. Brings everything in house. Why allow third party brokers to use your product when you can do it yourself? It’s the same reason ESPN and Fox are going directly to the consumer.

That would be nice but MBA money people don't care about that. It doesn't compute in their brain.

I think because they can sell the tickets for more on the third party sites because fans of other teams use it as well as their own fanbase.

Dude, schools won't even run their own concessions and you want them to be Stubhub 2.0?
