We are stupid because we agree that Brooks slammed him to the ground by his chin, which is CLEARLY demonstrated in multiple pictures, and videos?

You're posting history shows that you have no room to call anyone stupid.

Hilarious seeing as how you are the one whining that it was called a penalty. Dumbass.

He couldnt have bent down just a little bit and made a clean, form tackle? Yes, he most certainly could have. He had that opportunity and went high. It was a dumb play by him.

Not the brooks was blocked, but He only really had one 100% clean step off the Tackle before hitting brees who was stepping up in the pocket. I really think if brees leg doesn't get caught under him we aren't having this discussion, that was what made for such a awkward tackle.

So this is your response to me saying that he should have a very well could have gone lower with the tackle? Brilliant.

Or you could watch the play and see Brooks clearly hits Brees in the chest. The fact that his arm slid up Brees' body while he was going down is irrelevant. It was not a blow to the head/neck and he did not pull him down by his chin. He knocked him to the ground when his arm destroyed Brees' chest.

This.

You Saints fans are acting like Brooks just ran by and choke slammed Brees.

Brooks tried to make a legal hit. In the process of running full speed to avoid a chasing lineman, attempting tackle the quarterback who is going to pass the ball at any moment; while also not hitting him too low, nor too high, and also making sure not to land with force on top of Brees, Brooks' arm inadvertantly ended up around the neck of Drew Brees. Just like the following tackles...

No, but whether I agree with the current setup of NFL policies is completely irrelevant.

The question is whether or not it was a penalty. It was.

Dude, you keep on posting pictures of running backs getting tackled on run plays. Do you really not understand that things are different for a QB in the pocket? Seriously?

What he tried to do was irrelevant.

It ended up not being a legal hit according to virtually everyone involved or formerly involved in officiating.

It wasn't a legal hit.

It also did not "determine the outcome of the game" and there are far more questionable Roughing calls every single week.

I have no idea why this one is such a big deal.

The irony is that it wasn't too long ago that Saints players were in fact purposely trying to injury San Fran players.

He did not lead with his head. He led with his chest, which is what the NFL asks a defender to do. Please tell me when the defensive end, while avoiding a block to get to the quarterback before he gets rid of the ball or scrambles, has time to slow down, square up perfectly to the qb, and lightly wrap the qb up around the torso.

Yes because it shows you clearly have never played football and have no idea what you are talking about. What else needs to be said?

The facts, again, are that he did not bring him down by the neck but Brees was going down from the force of the blow to the chest. If a player hits a QB around the waist and then slides and and tackles him around the knees it's not the same as hitting them in the knee which is a penalty. It's the exact same scenario here.

The ref blew the call and the league came out with this petty fine in a weak effort to justify it, which is extremely typical of them.

I'm showing you a still shot of many guys looking to "choke" the ball carrier. It's what happens when someone gets tackled.

If Brooks just straight up runs through Brees without attempting to wrap up, he would be fined for delivering a flagrant hit. When he wrapped his arms around Brees, without landing on top of him, it caused his arm to slide up to Brees neck.

Almost every single piece of evidence shows they got the call right.

Hmm, where did I say this? I said that he could have gone a little bit lower instead of going high. He should have known the rules. He wouldnt have had to slow down or square up perfectly in order to do that.

Well picture and video evidence says that you are retarded.

Nope. Picture and video evidence prove that it was the right call.

I agree it shouldn't be a fine.
