I don’t see this leading in a good direction.

It’s absolutely stupid that you can’t buy an athlete lunch, or loan him a few bucks, just like you could any other student. It’s dumb that these guys can’t get paid for working at a camp. Some of the NCAA rules are a joke.

Many athletes are too busy to have jobs. I think they should be compensated for something like that, as it helps pay the rent and put food in the stomach.

Beyond that, what do they need? They’re gonna no-show for some event and take in $10,000? The slope is slippery. If the NCAA video game gets made, then yes, they should get compensation. If their jersey number sells in the bookstore, ditto.

That is earning your market value. This could straight up become boosters paying for athletes though, and that would be a major hit to college football. All it takes is a Sam Gilbert, Boone Pickens, Sherwood Blount type of booster to deliver top recruits out to some schools.

I’m sure some of the techies in Austin or the Bay Area would jump at the opportunity to raise their status.

Why would a kid transfer in the middle of their career and delay entering the NFL. Doesn't make any sense
