The Nov. 12 recording, obtained exclusively by ABC News from Peterson's lawyers, features his talking with Troy Vincent, a former player and now the league’s executive vice president of football operations, according to Peterson’s lawyers.

In the conversation, Vincent promises the Minnesota Vikings’ running back a two-game suspension instead of the indefinite ban handed down by Commissioner Roger Goodell six days later.

Promised IF he complied with the "program". No one knows what the "program" entailed, but feel free to spread misinformation and conjecture.

What he said... I read somewhere that Goodell wanted him to fly and meet with him and he'd get 2 games but Adrian failed to go.

If he complied which he didn't. He was also promised by someone who didn't have the authority over the situation.

My comment while indirectly aimed your way was more an opinion against the sports media trying to create drama and intrigue out of nowhere.

Plus, Vincent has no authority to determine punishment. This is explicit in the CBA. Plus, this information was all available during the arbitration proceedings and was considered.

That I will agree with. But who here doesn't like a little mouth foaming from Fox Mulder? Just a filler thread

Well now I have to send my wife anonymous flowers and see if she thanks me. Too many hours a week at "yoga" I suppose.

And if I'm not mistaken, the NFLPA advised him to not attend that meeting because of the recent untrustworthy actions from the Commissioner's office. How could you blame Peterson or the NFLPA for feeling this way? What has Goodell done recently to feel that he should be trusted?

I don't see the harm in going to the meeting to hear what they have to say.

I've got a solution.

Let Peterson play, but he can't wear any padding, and the Vikings can't take him off the field as long as they're on offense. And he has to return kicks/punts. And he has to cover kicks/punts. But no padding.

See how he likes getting beat and being defenseless.

I'm not keeping up with this story as much as some, BUT...didn't he beat a naked four year old with a switch so bad that his buttocks and scrotum had scars on them?

Eta: Nevermind, I knew you were trolling.

So we are looking at at minimum 16 games and a loss of $4 million for pleading guilty to a misdemeanor.

A misdemeanor that won't go on his record if he pays a $4K fine, takes a parenting class, and completes probabtion. This union is weak.
